Anyone paying any attention to their Facebook friends list may have noticed that they have a "Recently Interacted" list. By default this is one of the lists that you see on your main profile page, and you'll also see it when you click on "Edit Friends". If you refresh your profile and look at your list of friends, you'll notice that no matter how many friends you have, roughly the same ones will appear over and over and over again. According to Facebook themselves, this list shows the last Facebook friends that you've "interacted" with within the last month and a half, however, I've seen people showing up regularly on mine who I've barely interacted with at all, and within the last month and a half, have interacted much more with some people who aren't even showing up at all on it. But that is a mystery for another thread ... sort of ...

Enter the "Facebook Mouse-Over 5"

First off, to see the "Mouse-Over 5" just hover your mouse cursor over anyone else's name, anywhere on Facebook. You'll get a small pop-up window showing the person's picture, plus any mutual friends (up to 5 total, hence the name, "Mouse-Over 5") you both may share (Fig-1).

Well, first off, it may help to try to figure out why Facebook is choosing to show you those 5 mutual friends if you both happen to share more than 5, but that's sort of only a secondary mystery. The main mystery here is shown in the screenshot below (Fig-2).

To get this pop-up you just hover the mouse over your own name. It'll show you up to 5 (assuming you have at least 5 friends Wink ) friends, and as you refresh over and over again, while it will change a bit, you'll start to see that generally the same friends will show up over and over again, just like the main friends list, even though you have potentially hundreds or even thousands of other friends. The theory is that Facebook may have a built-in profile tracker and this is it ... it's showing you the top 5 people who view your profile the most often. However, in order to confirm this, I think the Facebook public at large should put their collective thinking caps on and help solve this riddle. What are your thoughts on this, is it a Facebook profile visitor tracker?

That IS strange, mine seem to be the same as my recently interacted mostly, but not exactly. I tried visiting someone's page where my picture wasn't on at first visit, and refreshed a hundred times but still never showed up on their list. I wonder if you have to talk to the person via Facebook inbox messages to show up there?
