Windows Live Messenger, Google Chat (along with Google Earth) and possibly AOL IM have all been banned from being downloaded in countries viewed as hostile to the US, such as Cuba, Syria, Iran, Sudan and North Korea.
I have some mixed feelings on this... My first gut reaction is "good" Then I think about the people here who have family over there. I know I rely on IM services A LOT in my daily life to keep in touch with people I care about that live a bit too far. Heck.... even for some people that are around the corner.
My radio station was just talking about this story. Ok its one thing to mad but this is taking it to extreams. What makes it worse is she might only get 12 yrs - ONLY.
OK title was changed to make it more PG13 ish
I found this story pretty funny. As if one's drivers license photo isn't bad enough, now you can't smile or at least show teeth. I'm not happy with my DL photo as I'm sure a lot of others aren't either. A smile I think allows one to look slightly better in a government issued photo. What does your DL photo look like? Are you happy with it? Do you think we should be allowed smile? I wonder how many states will follow suit.
So if Judge Sonia Sotomayor is appointed to the Supreme Court she will be the first Judge there that has ruled on a few cyberlaw trials. So basically maybe she is a little more up with the times and a little more techie or atleast as far as the law goes. So is this good or bad? Are we going to start seeing more cyberlaw trials come up before the Supreme Court if she gets in? I think about the Pirate Bay case that has been such a huge subject over in Sweden - we certainly don't want that here.
Always remember how short life can be, friends.
From CNN:
Ok, so I can't believe we forgot about this . What Geek site would be complete if we didn't officialy celebrate Geek Pride day. So it's a day late yeah...but us Geeks get busy with our geeky stuff. I'm sending an official Happy Geek Pride Day greeting to everyone here at the Drop.
Microsoft is offering a new beta service to help people communicate during an "emergency". Microsoft Vine is a service that will allow you to sign up for emergency contacts. So that you can be alerted during one, and you can alert others. It's not just emergencies but things in general... school closings, canceled baseball practice, etc. You can choose to have the messages delivered to your email, cell phone, or even a landline. You can even have it set to "check in" with others while your away on vacation.
OK, I remember when their story hit the headlines I thought this woman was just plain nuts! I never thought I'd see them make it, but apparently they're happy as ever, even up until today. Now Hosting a party called "Hot for Teacher" is something I'm not sure I agree with. Is this sending a message that what she did was ok? Hmmmm.. OK, it's all legal now that hes of age, but I think this is kinda like "in your face".
Saw this today here from CNN. Thought I would share with my Idol junkies. I think it's nice how modest they are... And I think they really became good buddies.
This may be a little old news for some, but after talking about it with a coworker I realized that no one posted about it.
"Baby Shaker" is a controversial program that was pulled from the Apple App store. The objective is to stop an annoying crying baby by shaking your iPhone. You can read more about it here.
What do you guys think? Should they have pulled it?
