sorry if i should have posted this somewhere else. (i think we should have a google forum-with all its many uses and apps...) anyway, i created a website and have the basic knowledge to get it up. just wanted to see if anyone had any creative and useful tips. and i also wanted to ask about the email. can i get my [email protected] email sent to my regular gmail or vice versa?
thanks sd. i was trying to avoid setting up my outlook. its such a pain for me. but i guess if i just suck it up i could have all my emails in one place and still be able to sync them to my droid eris. it just seems silly to assign a whole new email to me and not be able to link it to the email/gmail i had to use to get the site in the first place! does that make sense?
Are you just trying to get your [email protected] email forwarded to your [email protected] address?
yes.
In the admin area look for a forwarding feature you can use?
im looking around.... still dont see anything. may have to get the fancy- schmancy edition.
i figured it out! go me! haha! all you do is log into your gmail account and selct settings then forwarding. insert the address you want to forward to and it works! i got the test email in both accounts! i didnt think it would be that easy. i dont think you can do this with yahoo. unless you have their super fancy/paid for email account.
thanks everyone for your help...now any tips for website setting up in general?
congrats!

I don't have any personal experience with Google Hosting, but most hosts that give you an email address will also give you all of the server information that you need to check and send email using a regular email program, like Outlook or ThunderBird.
If Google's Hosting does too, then you can check and send email from within Gmail by going to Settings | Accounts & Import, scroll down to "Check mail using POP3" and click the "Add POP3 Email Account" button. In there you just enter the POP3 (Incoming) server information, the SMTP (Outgoing) server information, and some other basic info, and you'll be able to use Gmail as your regular email client. When you want to send an email from [email protected] you'll be able to choose it from a dropdown combobox in the Compose area when sending a new email.
It'll also autocheck for email on it's own, but one thing to note, Gmail is very slow when autochecking outside POP3 accounts. It only checks about once an hour. I personally like mine to autocheck about once every 5-10 minutes, and Gmail has no way to change this. So as long as you don't mind the length of time between server checks, it's good. You can manually check whenever you want by going ot the same place and clicking the "Check now" link though.
