Yep you got that right if you're a Alliance or Horde you can soon change it and jump to the other side. According to Blizzard the creaters of World Of Warcraft
There's still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we're pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it.
So there you have it, soon you will beable to switch over.
So curious how many are planning on jumping ship to the other side? Will this change make the game harder to play or more confusing? You know the once my friend now my enemy feel?

I just signed up again last night. I'm soooooo rusty. It's been like a a year or more since I played. But one nice thign is I have like 2035 gold on one of my characters, and more on the others, 
. I can't remember, but I don't think i left with that much.
It's cool that you can switch sides, only thing is, they make it sound like they're doing everyone such a favor. They did the same thing finally for moving characters over to another server if you want to so so, but it costs $30(!) each move. I'm sure they'll be doing the same thing here, which basically just means another way for them to line their pockets.
I cant imagine wanting to switch sides.. tee hee hee
All my toons are alliance and if I wanted to switch to being a horde toon, I would just start one of those. Just a way for them to make more money I bet!
Don't think I will switch ever. I love being alliance. I however do have a horde char, only because when my realm was down and I wanted something to do .. This just sounds like another money making plan for good ol Blizz. Alliance FTW!

I love Alliance too, although the Undead are cool 
, but the thing that really pisses me off sometimes, at least on Ticondrius, is it seems all the newbs get on Alliance, and the vets go Horde. So teamwork in battlegrounds as an Alliance is practically non-existent. Except in Alterac Valley, or at least that's how it used to be over a year ago. I guess I'll see if it's still that way pretty soon here .... Either way, almost nothin' funner'n grabbin a few cold ones and geekin out on WoW for the night.
I play on a PvE server so I am able to have both. This comes in handy when I want to scout out certain locations in Horde cities. I started off as Horde but my partner was Alliance so I rolled a NE toon. I miss being a Tauren sometimes but I love my Gnome DK. Yeah, it's a pain starting from the bottom up (and having no gold) but I would never trade in my Gnome. Or the NE for sentimental reasons. I found out a way to send gold to my lowbie Horde anyway so it's no big deal.

I just started up a gnome deathknight tonight too. It does seem like a fun class. At least they start ya off at lvl 55 rather than 1, eh?
I Love Love Love my level 74 DK. It's such a fun toon to play. I also love that I can go to another realm, if I choose and start another DK.
