Alright maybe it's too cold outside and i need to get something better than "the blue stuff" but i thought i'd check with some of you first.
Here's the deal. I was out of fluid when i went home just now. I filled it up with some "blue stuff" i bought the other day (it had been sitting in my home where it is probably 70 degrees). Sprayed it, worked just fine. On the last leg of my commute the windshield was all gross again so i sprayed it again--nothing. just screetch screetch of the wipers wiping nothing because no fluid came out.
Now, my commute is 30 min's. The engine temp was halfway to the middle. i parked in a warm garage when i got home. i was 25 minutes into my commute back when it didn't work. i guess i'm just having a hard time believing that it froze.
But i suppose that's possible?
So, cold-weathered friends, what's the best windshield wiper fluid to get for extremely cold temps?
Or, have you had any experience with this?
I have looked at the How To stuff and have some stuff to check out but thought i'd try a diff. fluid first.
Edit: i just checked with the gas station i bought it from and online. Says that it works up to -20F. it's 3 right now (but with the windchill -15 or -20). This is the stuff i bought.
Try this (according to my friend up north who I happen to be on the phone with) RainX de-icer washer fluids
I don't have a particular fave for icy weather, but I have seen those winter fluids like SM just posted. I'd just grab some of that stuff. The "other colored stuff"
Is the fluid frozen in it's tank too, or just in the lines leading to the wipers?

Okay i will get some of that stuff when i can get all this blue smurf piss outta there.

I have no idea. Which makes me think i should pour some rubbing alcohol in there in the mean time because it's almost full. Apparently having the engine go for an hour didn't make it warm enough, so it needs some help Right Now. Last thing i need is the tank cracking. dammit.
My apologies for my vulgarity--car troubles suck and it just is never pleasant driving around not being able to see much and not knowing if you're going to completely lose visibility at any moment.
Unless it gets even colder the stuff in the tank probably wont freeze. If it does, with it being so close to the engine, just running the engine for a while would probably thaw it out though. Did ya keep the winshield defrosters cranked for a while too? Sometimes that helps melt the stuff frozen in the wiper lines.

Now I'm jsut trying ot find out what women are good for?? (Just kiddin! Runs and takes cover)
But yea, that's usually why they position the blower right about where the windshield wipers rest on the windshield.
