That is what was order for Jammie Thomas-Rasset to pay. She could have settled out of court like most have done but nope. She was the only one to take the case to trial.
Her first trial she was fined $222,000 per song but that trial was declared a mistrial. The second case the fees jumped up to $80,000 per song. Now mind you that is 80k times the 24 songs she downloaded so her total fee was 1.92 million dollar.
Here are the songs that cost her 80,000 EACH (downloaded from Kazaa):
Now I love music and I do like most of the songs she downloaded but not $80,000 worth. I'm guessing the next court room she will see will be the bankruptcy one. She is a single mom of 4 kids so I hardly think she has a spare 1.92 million dollars to spare. Maybe she should go by a lotto ticket, with her luck you never know.

yeah its a little out there. They could have nailed her up to 150,000 per song - soooooo stupid. She did state this after the trial:
Outside the courtroom, she called the $1.92 million figure "kind of ridiculous" but expressed resignation over the decision.
"There's no way they're ever going to get that," said Thomas-Rasset, a 32-year-old mother of four from the central Minnesota city of Brainerd. "I'm a mom, limited means, so I'm not going to worry about it now."
You can read that here
The RIAA also said they would be willing to settle still.
It really would have been tragically funny if she had downloaded 24 songs by Barry Manilow and Weird Al Yankovic.
Or Dire Straights "Money for Nothing"

i mean, not all the songs on that list are bad...but for that much money i would have liked to have seen a MUCH awesomer playlist... *lol*
hope no one is holding their breath waiting for that money...how absurd.

Heck for that much money I want a private concert from each of them - live in my living room then MAYBEEEEEEEEEE it might be worth it but honestly looking at it nah I'll keep my money
yup i'd file for bankruptcy. then they can't get you for the $.
yeah okay i get the whole we shouldn't illegally download music thing, but COME ON. i guess they were trying to prove a point, make an example out of some people, to scare off people from doing it. but the way they charged her for 80k for each song, you'd think she was not only illegally downloading them but SELLING them as well, BIG TIME.
ridiculous.
but i guess they made their point. i'm sure everyone's going to think twice now...
~karma: i'm countin on it~
