I never even thought of that! That'd be a great way to start. GeekDrop is making me a bit smarter already.
the cheerleader is too dang cute.
and yes agreeing with setponap. that's a great idea on how to learn to do this!

Even while in High School, used to do the same on the 2 hour bus ride to/from school... Yeah apparently that does not make one uber popular *shrugs*

Seriously. I want to learn to knit. I've tried to teach myself several times, but I need someone to sit with me and show me exactly what to do.
A good place to start is to go to http://www.knitlist.com/ and subscribe to the daily digest - you should see subscribe on the right side of that web page.
Once you join, you get a "digest" via email daily (sometimes more than 1 a day) with different knitting subjects. I have belonged to the group for more than 10 years now. They give you tips, patterns, answers, etc. You may also locate someone in your area that has a group formed that meets at a local joint (i.e. Borders Books) and have coffee and share knitting patterns, teaches new learners, etc. You ask questions, someone answers - a nice group of knitters. Some very professional people belong. There is an author that is a paperback writer - she includes knitting subjects in her books.
But check out that web page - there is a lot of information right there.
I wouldn't mind being on your "knitlist" as Stardogg said. I am actually looking into taking lessons at a local fabric store this summer, if it doesn't conflict with my many planned trips. I'll have to check into that site. Check your PM inbox regularly because if I have any trouble I am going to ask you first.

Careful, CandyHart might put you on her "Knitlist".
Hey guys, I found this link to a blog for those of you interested in weaving. It seems easy enough... great way to get started: http://itsacreativeworld.blogspot.com/2007/08/something-for-children.html
I'll work with these little kid things until I feel comfortable enough to go loom shopping, haha. I might even look for some CrazyDazy stuff thanks to CritterK.

I guess since my mom and grandma don't knit I have no one to really teach me
Neither do mine. I taught myself to crochet. Which probably explains why they still arent' perfect, but hey. Also check your local craft stores, ours have different "learn to" classes. I bet one would be crocheting or knitting. Hmmmm.... maybe I should take my own advice. Though I'm one of those people that always wants to call someone and have them walk me through when I hit a snafu.
, Ask DoGG, my own personal "i broke my computer, help me fix it" guy. Ya know... even at 2 AM
I dunno how people deal with me
Do a little dance...
