If you live in Eastmon, PA. they might have. So at what point does security cross the line and privacy is needed. I guess Walmart is now learning this lesson or atleast one store is. The camera was found by other employees and they have filed a class action lawsuit. Walmart did dismiss the two employees who placed the camera there. They worked for the loss-prevention unit. This wasn't just a employee bathroom but one that was used my customers.
The attorney for the plaintiffs, Erv McLain said, "I am incredulous that anyone would think that it's appropriate conduct for any reason to photograph people in a changing room and bathroom." "The filming of anyone, including employees, is not something that is unheard of in the industry," McLain said. "But to do it in a changing room and bathroom is totally unprecedented and it could border on criminal activity."
Uhhh yeah I would think it could be criminal. I mean if a customer was to go in with a small child and they filmed that child in the nude isn't that child pornography? Its just bad all the way around. I'm just glad I don't live in that area and you bet I'll be looking next time I'm in a public bathroom (which I try never to use). So do you think this is over the top or do you understand that they are just trying to fight theft?

It is incredible and so wrong. I just wonder if the two employees were escape goats for upper management. I understand in taking pride in your job but that is way overboard and perverted.
I wonder how much of that was security v. how big of perverts they are. If I found some guy was getting off looking at my kid in the bathroom I would kick some arse.
that is really bad. they should be more then fired.
I would definitely think that if a camera is placed in a bathroom or designated dressing area and a system records them being undressed or engaging in "private acts" the business has violated a persons civic privacy rights and therefore has violated the constitutional rights of the victim(s).
I would think so too. If they recorded any children then that would open up a whole new can of worms. There really should be some legal issues. There also needs to be a huge lesson learned to other retailers not to assume that your security team knows that doing this is a no no but they are trained a little bit better.
Single & Not Looking
Way over the top!! But typical of Walmart I suppose.
