Well as Steve Jobs has dubbed the problem as "Antennagate" and as I saw it trying to make light of a serious issue flaw of their phone. At one time they were saying the new iphone4 would give you greater range and now its turning to bite them in the butt. As much as he would love to say all of the smartphones have this issue he really is off track here.
Get a free case: Next week they will be offering a free case on apple.com to correct the antenna problem. Now if you already have a case they they will reimburse you (so they say and I'm guessing that is if you still have your receipt).
Refund: Apple has a 30 return policy and that will not change. If your phone is under 30 days then you can return it.
Recall: nope not going to happen so don't go looking for one.
Class action Law suites: Oh yeah there are number of them out there. HERE is one that Gizmodo posted.
So why the speech today Steve if you say there really isn't a problem? Well its because Consumers Report came out saying they could not recommend buying a iphone 4. Well that got Steve's attention when the stock started to really fall.
Steve also said that only one in 200 iphone users complained about dropped calls. As in the words of the reporter on TV, maybe that is because every time they tried to call their phone call was dropped or maybe because they called AT&T thinking it was due to their crappy service.
If you missed the consumers report video on the iphone 4 and the antenna then here it is....
I'm not buying the phone until end of year.
I'm not buying the phone until end of year.
In that case I would suggest waiting till the next iPhone comes out and pick it up a month after it's released. Odds are good the next iPhone won't suffer from this problem. Another problem yes, but not this problem. After a month of use by customers most of the flaws should be out in the open.

One of the things Steve also said that they were not alone with phones and dropped calls that the other smartphones do the same thing then he mentioned Blackberry Bold. Well as you can image that did not set well not only with the media but with Blackberry RIM:
RIM to Apple: Bull
Official statement from Research In Motion in response to Apple's iPhone 4 Antennagate propaganda!
"Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple."
