Hi all
I have a samsung hard drive Spinpoint HM501II It intermittendly stops working. I have ran the windows scan disk and it passed the sea tools long generic test it also passed. All seems fine but a can not copy anything to the drive. I low level formatted the drive thinking it will solve the problem but it prevails is there any other help someone can offer
Sometimes the explorer stops working or it says the program is not responding
The problem becomes more mysterious: it works fine on my desktop but on the laptop it does not work. The only difference between the two systems is one has windows ultimate and laptop has home basic. I am totally baffled???????????
It's interesting that it works fine on one system, but poops out on another; so that suggests the drive is fine, but maybe a hardware or software issue on the laptop. Easiest things to do to start diagnosing would be to confirm the drive itself is in fact OK, you could try a pregraom like Crystal Disk Info to test it (it's free), then make sure your laptop has all of it's drivers up to snuff, including the BIOS.
I've been trying out "Driver BoosterIOBit Driver Booster. For the BIOS, you should double-check the website of the laptop manufacturer to see if a newer BIOS is available. After all drivers are for sure up to date, run Windows Update to see if any software needs updating. Any one, or more of those issues could be causing the bottleneck.
" lately and really like it, it has found a lot of updated drivers on my computer that Windows Update didn't catch, and puts them all in one easy place, you could give it a try:If none of that solves the issue, it might be time to roll up the sleeves and do more intense trouble shooting; memory testing, etc.

By "stops working" what exactly do you mean? Does it show any sort of error message? Or does it just hang there forever until you manually click on a Cancel button?
