Need a calculator but cant find it on your computer? No problem just google the problem. Check it out try seaching 8+2*2 and see what you get
Tired of searching for something only to get a million returns and some of them are so off the wall? Ok well you can narrow it down by making sure what your searching for is in the headlines. Say you were searching for "google tricks" to narrow it down you want to seach for it this way:
allintitle: google tricks
Now it that its too narrow you can scale it back and just google it this way:
intitle: google tricks
That way it will have to have either Google or tricks in the headline but will not have to require both like the "allintitle" does.
Say you're looking for information on an iPod. Now you want info on all of the ipods out there size-wise. If you google "ipod 80gb" you're only going to get the 80gb ipods and not all of them. However if you google the numbers like this you will get everything in between the numbers:
"ipod 2..120 GB"
that will pull up all of the different ipods: ipods 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, 30gb and so on up to 120gb
Now say you want a 30gb player like above but you want to see other brands out there. You could do what they call a wildcard search. The wildcard being this: * so search for the 30gb player this way:
ipod * 30 GB
and google will change out certain words that are similar. Like they will change out the word ipod for also MP3 or music player so that way it broadens your search.
Let's say you need to find a current article for a research paper. How many times have you googled something that ended up being written 5-6 years ago and is now outdated? Let's say you were doing a research on eye diseases. To make sure you get current articles you would want to search like this:
"eye diseases" inurl:2009 <-- yes, use the quotes
It will now pull up URLS that have 2009 in them. Alot of sites are now putting dates in the URLs to show when the article was written. Don't believe me? Test it out and see: "eye diseases" inurl:2009
I also figured as others add some great tips I would add them to the main topic so they don't get lost:

Just enter the airline and flight number into the search box and you will get arrival and departure times inside Google's search results
Critterkeeper posted a thread you can see here: Use Google to search any site. It shows you how to search a certain site for a key word.
Now that's just cool! Sometimes people send me tracking numbers and forget to tell me what company they sent it through. I never knew you could do that.
i think there is a conversion search too.
Thanks, O Knowledgeable One. Much appreciated.
