Why does Google make it so tricky to simply get map coordinates on Google Maps? I can't find a way to get the lat. & long. when looking at a map, can anyone tell me?
Re: Get Latitude and Longitude Coordinates in Google Maps
I agree, it'd be really nice if in addition to what Google already does with Maps they simply added a Latitude & Longitude label with the coordinates right there, able to be highlighted and copied to clipboard.
There's a number of ways to get the coordinates, here's one:
First, wherever on the Google Map that you want the Latitude / Longitude Coordinates, ALT+Right -Click on that spot so that the above menu pops up.
Click on "Center map here". This "sets" the coordinates.
Click the button that looks like a little chain link.
A fly-out menu pops up with the link to be able to copy and send to people. It contains the latitude / longitude coordinates as well.
Right-Click and Copy it to your clipboard.
Now, if you want just the latitude / longitude coordinates, you'll need to paste this link into some edit field, or Notepad, or something similar. Easiest way is to just past it into the empty URL / Location Bar above.
Highlight and copy the stuff after the equals sign ("ll=", obviously the ll's stand for Latitude and Longitude ) and before the following "and" sign ("&").
Note: The comma between the two separates the Latitude from the Longitude.
If anyone else has any good tips on getting the coordinates from a Google Map, would love to hear it!
Shhh.. dont tell anyone, but we also have a private forum area with the really good stuff, see?
