There's a new feature added to Facebook today that has alot of people freaking out. What it does is, certain websites in collaberation with Facebook will automatically have access to some of your personal Facebook information, so that the site can be a bit more customized to you, help you find your other Facebook friends on that website and so on, somewhat like a cookie ... kind of. By default, this feature is turned ON. According to some this is just another liberty Facebook has taken with your personal information, and a privacy invasion. Here's a viral Facebook Status that is currently going around, as an example:
Facebook is at it again! As of today, there is a new privacy setting called "Instant Personalization" that shares data with non-facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Allow." Go to Account > Privacy Settings > Applications and Websites and uncheck "Allow". Please copy & repost
If you're concerned about this feature, here's how you turn it off.
Go to your Privacy settings and then click "Applications and Websites"
then Edit Setting button ...
You'll want to UNCHECK the above highlighted checkbox ...
Click the Confirm button, and you're all done.
Then uncheck " Allow ... "

Thanks for the info I just updated my settings. See this is total crap that Facebook is allowed to do this. Atleast I did check my kids and they did not have this settings. I'm hoping that atleast facebook had the decency to mark kids under 18 as very private.
I will say here is one site that Facebook shares info with spokeo.com That site gave more personal info out on me then I cared to share.
