Hey you all,
As a hobby/freelance Photographer, I am always wondering what people think about this question!
Digital Photography vs. Traditional Film, Paper and Chemicals.
We live in the 21st century, with electronic PC's that can manage almost anything, but can it really replace the traditional Art of designing and developing Photo's?
So what is your opinion on this?
Oh see it took a long time for me to change over from traditional film to digital. Some formats I still use film. As much as I love playing around in the darkroom I love even more playing around on the computer with the pictures. Digital has come such a long way. I would go to say that 90% of the professional photographers I know use digital now. So for 99% of my photography I use digital. I do still use traditional film in my hasselblad (2.25 x 2.25) and in my horseman (4x4). I would love to change them over but well that would cost some serious bucks. Last time I looked they were around 4k EACH to upgrade.
OH not sure if you know I have a degree in Commercial Photography. Mind you I gratuated pre digital age (in 89).

All my photographs are of family, events, or travel so I like digital. I can take a lot of pictures erase ones I don't like and not have to worry about taking them into be printed. I also can store them online which is a big space saver.
My brother is a professional photographer. He does lots of events and weddings as well as studio portraits. He and all of his photographer friends use digital. I think it is cost effective and they take mass amounts of pics at a time. For my wedding they took about 1600 pictures. I'll have to ask him his reasoning behind the digital next time I see him.
