I have been following this story for a few days and it continues to baffle me. These have been a thorn in the side of humanity for years now. I say let the U.S. Military use it's mighty muscle and bring these idiots down now!.
"The captain taken hostage made a swim for it - but didn't make it far.
Richard Phillips, the American captain being held captive by defiant Somali pirates, tried to escape Thursday night by jumping out of the lifeboat, according to CNN.com.
Phillips was swimming towards the naval warship USS Bainbridge, but was recaptured and returned to the boat by pirates who had jumped into the water after him.
He appeared unharmed, the official told the site."

I have been watching this story. I live in FL as most know and well I love deep sea fishing. We from time to time run to the Bahamas on our boat. There is alot of pirating that goes on in the ocean that you never read about. We as most have a rule if you see a boat stranded in the ocean you DO NOT board it or go over to rescue it as that is how most pirates operate. We simply call the coast guard and give the lat & long of the boat. Its bad out there and we had a friend who to this day is "missing" they did however recover the boat but no signs of him. His boat was stripped clean. That happened about 5 yrs ago on his return trip from the Bahamas. Also when we travel like that we carry this:
Rugger mini 14 (that's not ours but ours looks the same)
We also are equipped with a EPIRB
I agree something needs to be done about pirates on the ocean - its scary. I hope they catch him and I hope they take deadly action against the pirates to send a message loud and clear...it needs to end!
The U.S. official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. A Pentagon spokesman had no immediate comment.
When Phillips' crew heard the news aboard their ship in the port of Mombasa, they placed an American flag over the rail of the top of the Maersk Alabama and whistled and pumped their fists in the air. Crew fired a bright red flare into the sky from the ship.
Phillips' crew of 19 American sailors reached safe harbor in Kenya's northeast port of Mombasa on Saturday night under guard of U.S. Navy Seals
Yes I heard!!! WOOHOO!!! Great news, I'm loving those Navy Seals!!
I'm so glad this ended well for the crew and their families. I'm guessing this is the best Easter gift they could have asked for.
WTF - ANOTHER boat held hostage in Somolia
PIRATES seized a US-owned, Italian-flagged tugboat with 16 crew yesterday in the latest hijacking in the busy Gulf of Aden waterway, a regional maritime group said.
Andrew Mwangura, of the Mombasa-based East African Seafarers' Assistance Program, said the crew were believed to be unharmed on the tugboat, which was operated from the United Arab Emirates.
He said the tugboat was towing two barges at the time of capture but there were no details on their cargo.
"This incident shows the pirates are becoming more daring and violent," Mwangura said.
NATO officials on board the Portuguese warship NRB Corte-Real, which is patrolling the Gulf of Aden, said a distress call came from the MV Buccaneer tugboat but communications were lost six minutes later.
They said 10 of the tugboat's crew were Italian citizens.
Somali pirates have stepped up attacks in March after a lull at the start of the year.

I dunno I had a good friend spend some time over in Somolia and I think I agree with him time to clean house over there.
It's been time to clean house over there for many years now, the only way to get through to these thugs is with force, bring the Seals back in!!!
Can you believe that they attacked this boat again and tried to pirate it?
This time the ship had security and they shot back at them and the pirating was foiled.

Is "Aaarrrgh!" pronounced the same in Somalia?
