So long lives the debate that seams to never end......
VS
then on the flip side
Both make some interesting points. Bottom line this will always be a debate and in the end you need the purchase the system that best fits your needs. Now one side that PCWorld did not review was the world of Linux (gotta love the cute penguin)
Like I said we don't discriminate against one OS vs another here (which is why we hand out badges for all to proudly display your OS
). So when you made your purchase what brought you to buy the systems that you picked? Now this thread was not made to be a lets bash the other systems just simply why did you pick what you picked.
One of my computer graphic friends who owns and works on both has said that he found that MAC's have better photo editing software however windows has better video editing software.
So I'm curious since you have owned both have you checked that out and do you find that true?
I haven't had time to try out the video editing software on my Mac yet, but I paid about $150 6 years ago for the software on my PC (pro software). It was pretty easy to use and made great videos for the time. The software for the Mac came with the computer. Free is nice. Even if it isn't as good as the PC I wont complain about free editing software, but then I still have my PC in case it sucks. Not everyone on a Mac has that luxury. I plan to put my wedding video together this summer when I have more time. I'll let you know how it compares.

Well I'm a proud windows girl. I dunno I am into custom build computers and making them just the way I want. I also have a monster of a PC and to duplicate it on a MAC I would need to take out a second mortgage plus some of my parts are just plain not available on MAC's so I would in affect have to downgrade unless I did a server.
I don't think there is any doubt on the amount of software out there. However like it was pointed out below apple has there own line of most of the same thing (kinda sorta). If your into gaming well there is no question that windows in the way to go. Even a honest apple lover will tell you that.
Security wise - apple lovers will tell you they have the upper hand in not needing any anti-virus protection. True for now but as apples become more used it will come a time. Also I run a 64bit systems so as of now there has not been a 64bit virus so
apple ppl (ok I'm braking my rule of no bashing). However I'm not stupid in thinking it wont happen at some time so I do run a anti-virus. If I had a apple I would do the same thing...if they make a AV for apples.
OK so yes I have a apple badge (the purple one) that was because at some point I have owned 5 ipods so yeah I bit the apple. The ipods still work and my kids use them (80gb vid ones) however I jumped ship last Christmas and I love my Zune (120gb vid).
In the end I think everyone should buy and own what suits their needs. I don't have anything against apple lovers, just the arrogant ones who feel that they need to shove it down others throats 24/7.
Yep the debate goes on and well I will share this - it makes me laugh:

California
I have earned both my windows and apple badges. I recently purchased a Macbook Pro because I got a great deal on it, and wanted to see what all the hype was about. So far I haven't noticed a big difference, but it has only been about 3 months. Plus I am really not that tech savvy . I haven't gotten to play around with the computer as much as I would like. Between work and school I haven't been able to get to know the computer as much as I would like.
I do really like iLife and iWork. Having written thousands of reports and presentations on Word I became pretty well skilled in its use, but it takes me much less time to make aesthetically beautiful reports with iWorks. With a little time and skill you can do the same with word and other windows software. Other than that I can see myself buying another PC in the future. I am not picking a team just yet.
