Well its only a few more days till the 2010 Winter Olympics will be on TV and I'm excited to watch. I really like watching the Olympics. I think my favorite sport is the figure skating. I love watching them glide across the ice with such beauty.

So who plans on watching and which events do you love?

Hmmm ... Nodar Kumaritashvili ... I wonder if they're gonna have to use a really small font to fit his whole name on his gravestone.
your so bad!

your so bad!
Whaa?? That's a legitimate question!
If that was not enough NBC showed the crash where the guy was killed. They showed him flying in the air (and it was close up) and hitting his head.
that is wrong - the man died show some respect for him and his family.
Hummmm guess others thought it might have been wrong of NBC in showing the video.
NBC was right to cover the story, and showing the video was a necessary news decision. The network, which usually holds a tight grip on Olympic footage, even released the tape to other news organizations because "this was a significant news event." However, showing it three times at the beginning of coverage without an adequate warning and then airing a picture of a lifeless body getting medical attention was irresponsible.

Loved the opening ceremonies. The first part kinda drug and sorry those statues in the beginning looked like huge dildos. The kid flying was really really cool, I so would have barfed. The fake skiers coming off the mountain was cool. Katie Lang has a amazing voice but could she try and look like a girl, even a little bit. She looked like a fat clay aikens.

I've seen the video of Luger's death and it is awful! I cried. His family said they have not watched the video and they don't want to ever see it. I also heard that he called his parents right before it happened and told them they should be proud of him. How sad!
I also read that he made a statement to his parents the day before saying that he was afraid of the track and feared for his safety.

Yeah I saw that too
"He called me before the Olympics, three days ago, and he said, 'Dad, I'm scared of one of the turns,' " David Kumaritashvili said in an interview at his house in the small mountain town of Bakuriani on Sunday.
"I said, Put your legs down on the ice to slow down, but he said if he started the course he would finish it. … He was brave," Mr. Kumaritashvili's father said, adding that his son had dreamed of being an Olympian from childhood and could have competed in two more Games.

Sad day on what should be a great opening day at the Olympics when Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili during a luge training run was killed.
Here is a shocking quote made by another luger PRIOR to this crash on Thursday: CLICKY
“I think they are pushing it a little too much,” Australia’s Hannah Campbell-Pegg told the Associated Press on Thursday after she nearly lost control in training. “To what extent are we just little lemmings that they just throw down a track and we’re crash-test dummies? I mean, this is our lives.”
Campbell-Pegg’s words should haunt these Games.
What also sadden me was that AP posted the guys name PRIOR to his family being told and they said that in the article - I find that horrible. If that was not enough NBC showed the crash where the guy was killed. They showed him flying in the air (and it was close up) and hitting his head.
