until now I've gotten away with it, but I guess there's a first time for everything 
it's not specifically against the law yet here...but they can get us for "inattentive driving" for doing anything while driving if they've got cause/worry to pull us over (my understanding at least). i get nervous anyway, i quick hit speakerphone and drop the phone to my lap if i see a cop car up ahead and there's no time to explain.
i too have one of those earpieces...no clue where it went either!

yeah because you neverrrrrrrrrr talk on the phone while driving huh? I had to laugh sorry but you have left me hanging on the other end because you have seen a cop and had to quick hang up. See in FL we can still chat on the phone and drive. Its a good thing too because I make alot of calls. But I did have to laugh, seriously do you know how many conversations I have had only to go...missb ya there still...helloooooooooo.
oh sorry about the credit card stuff that really does suck.
btw, i forgot to say THAT SUCKS. who needs that extra stress, you have to set aside 40 minutes to deal with it over the phone at least and when you work full time, that's your lunch break.
i don't know how to prevent these things, sometimes even when you think you're being clear, you still get sucked into it. i guess if you get a telemarketing call, hang up, and if you're asking for a service make sure you say i am only giving you permission to charge me for X amnt of dollars for THIS thing, this is what you did correct???
and even then who knows!

This happened to me a few months back. I was checking my statement and I noticed an unauthorized withdrawal for $14.95 by a company called UMG*SIMPMINE. I looked up the company online and noticed a lot of other people were having the exact same problem. And no one knows how they're even getting the card information! So I call my bank and they cancel my card and refund me the money that was taken.
While looking up this "company" I read that they go by a lot of other names as well. I'm thinking what happened is that a purchase was made with one of these other names and they kept the card information. I don't know... How else would they get it?
