She said it was most likely the connection but that it would need a new frame around the screen and they would have to do a diagnostic too.

Well the thing is, its kinda in the frame (kinda hard to explain) but thats what she said, I'm thinking if they wanted to rip me off they could have just taken it and charged me all sorts of money.

Well at the very least grab the hard drive and ram out of it. You can sell the rest on like craigs list or ebay. You would be surprised how many are looking to buy used screens. If you sell it though you might want to write down the product key on the bottom and remove the lable. That key is still good and can be used on another computer. Its its only a year and a half I'm guessing its Vista. That key alone is worth money.
