Jailbreaking An iPhone Questions

I have an iphone that I have been wanting to jailbreak and I have been reading about it. Can anyone suggest a tool to do this with? If something goes wrong can the iphone be set back to the default settings? Are there any do's and don't's for doing this? Any awesome apps that you have found after the iphone has been jailbroken?

The iPhone doesn't have MMS capabilities so I am interested in finding an app that can do this.

is it the iPhone 3G? jailbreaking an iPhone can cause damage and this is something you do at your own risk. many people have had success but it is quite possible to end up with a very pretty, but useless phone. i've read this before and also this. QuickPwn seems to be the tool to use and you can download it from the latter linked site.

as for the MMS capabilities, take a look at this thread i posted the other day. MMS will be available soon. and you won't have to take the chance of ending up with an Apple paper weight...

Thanks for the info. You know I did read your post on the iphone and totally blanked out on the MMS capabilities they are going to introduce, call it a blonde moment, Laughing

! Thanks for reminding me about this. I am toying with the idea but as you said I am worried I will end up with a very expensive paper weight. I miss the MMS feature I had on my other phone so this so going to be worth waiting for. My iphone is the 3G one and I love it, I have to say I am an app princess , can't get enough of them! Thanks for the links I will check these out as well.

you're welcome! i haven't attempted a jailbreak but i have read a lot about it. sounds super cool in theory but i'm not eligible for an upgrade for another few months. no way can i shell out the money for a full price iPhone right now, and i love my 3G baby so i don't want to take any chances. *lol*

oh and i can't WAIT either for the MMS feature. i'm sooo anxious for the upgrade to be available already. do you use a lot of the free apps or paid ones? i started a thread on the my favorite free ones. maybe you can take a look and, if you have any ones to share, perhaps leave a comment? i'd love to try out some new ones.

The iBrick! Yay iBrick! Yeah, I never jailbroke my touch or iPhone. I'd rather jsut pay a buck for an app or two then risk all the problems. I would cry for days and weeks if my phone was rendered useless and void the warrenty. I my iPhone.
