I'm working on a project at home on my computer but I need to take it to school with me so my daughter told me to get a Flash Drive. I bought one but I have no idea how to put the file on it.
Just plug the Flash Drive into one of your usb outlets, your computer will auto detect it and show a message in the lower right of the screen by the clock, "new hardware found", "your hardware is installed and ready to use".
Then go to My Computer, (either on your desktop or in your start menu and double click to open My Computer) the Flash Drive should automatically show up as another drive (most times its with it's model name displayed with it ). It could be G: but not A: B: C: or D:. You double click on that drive and open it up.
You would then copy the files you want to put on your Flash Drive and then paste them onto the Flash Drive
or drag and drop them onto the Flash Drive
.
When you done you need to do this to remove the Flash Drive. Go to the bottom right hand corner of your task bar and find the icon that says "Safety Remove Hardware" You double click on that and a box will come up listing what hardware is plugged into your computer. You find your Flash Drive
, press the Stop button, another box might come up asking you to confirm which device is to be stopped, you highlight your Flash Drive
and press OK. At the bottom right hand side you will see the message come up saying "Safe To Remove Hardware"
You remove your Flash Drive and your done!

Plug the drive in to a USB port. Windows ( I presume) will offer a pop up asking if you want to open the folder to view files or a preinstalled bit of software will open. If the open to view files option is given choose it. Once the window opens you can just copy and paste files right there. Or you can right click in the window, create new folder, name it, open it then copy and paste. Just don't ever choose the ready boost option. it wipes the drive.
