It seems like several (if not more) of us are dieting. Here is a place to vent your frustrations, ask questions, give advice, and seek support throughout the process. We also want to hear your success stories! It is motivation for the rest of us.
My first tip: Here is a little recipe I picked up from a friend who does weight watchers.
It tastes great. The texture can be a bit crumbly, but you will learn to remedy that. If you know anything about the way weight watchers works it is only 1point per slice!
I haven't officially tried the eating small meals every three hours thing, but I have heard it works. And it makes sense, because it would curb hunger feelings making it easy to eat less. If you try it, please let me know how it goes. I have lost 3 pounds in 1 week on my gheto weight watchers diet (I have the books and count points but no expensive meeting). I didn't stick to the diet today so back on track ASAP.
ok I am here to confess I have intentionally avoided this thread for purposes of denial. But, I have now *gulp* dug to the back of my closet for my fat clothes I feel the need to admit my need for some discipline in my habits. I vow to eat an apple instead of a candy bar but wont kid myslef into a mile run everyday. I will commit to walking my kids to/from school each day instead of using my car and we'll go from there. baby steps or I fade... fast

Ditto
As for the 3 hour diet - I kinda sorta did that in a way. When I was prego with my kids, 2 of them I was borderline gestational diabetes. I've never had any diabetic issue only during pregnancies. I will say I am one who has really odd pregnancies. Anyways I was told to eat little meals and eat often so I did. Never had to do insulin just change my eating habits. Did I loose weight well I didn't gain any. Yeah I know I'll get hammered on this one but prego 1 I gained 10 lbs, prego 2 I gained 3 lbs and prego 3 I didn't gain a pound. I lost weight everywhere but I looked like I swallowed a bowling ball. Yeah I know your hating me for that but don't worry mother nature got me and it was always like month 3 or 4 AFTER prego (when I went back to eating normal) that I would put on 25 - 30 lbs. So now that I look back maybe the small meals every 3 hours was a good thing. Now I need to rethink things
As for now I try and watch what I eat and I do try and shop wisely. Some days I'm good and some days I'm not.

When I'm in full on training mode, I live by the 6 small (~300-400 calories) meals per day, every 3 hours plan, and a couple of those meals are just protein shakes (my own mix of stuff, including dextrose and creatine). It's great.
I make protein from super lean meats and shakes as my main food/filler, with veggies second, good carbs (like potatoes, whole wheat/grain breads, wheat pasta, etc.) as my third, and about a gallon of water a day. I usually add in some kind of sugar-free mix to change the flavor up and keep it less boring. Like a Crystal Light or something similar. That's the basic idea behind my diet plan.
Mix that diet with a good workout routine, that ya do reliably, and you'll be in great shape in no time.

Im so glad that I can actually ask questions to someone who actually follows this plan. Sorry if these questions are dumb but I really want to follow is correctly. So since you eat every three hours when is your first meal? Is it right when you get up or are you supposed to have your first meal earlier? Is there a time that you stop eating, like after 7:00pm for example? I heard about protein shakes do you buy those GNC?

Whoops! Sorry it took me so long tosee this post. Hopefully you haven't given up on the diet yet
I personally like to workout on that morning empty stomach, after the 6-8 hours of no food during sleep. So, i try to workout before the first meal, then go ahead and have it. The time doesn't really matter as long as you keep track of the time in between meals. I also don't worry about stopping my meals after any particular time. I'm pretty relaxed about it all, as long as I stick to the right types of foods, and work out hard. Once your body gets into that calorie burning mode, it starts to fall off all by itself, and take care of itself.
The main trick is to just stick with it no matter what, or how long it takes. And I don't pay much attention the scale. I go all by mirror. Some days you just don't seem to lose any weight, or may seem to gain a pound or two, but as long as you stay with it, it'll happen no matter what. It'sd also crucial to add weights to the workouts, and add muscle. The more muscle ya have, the more calories you burn, even at rest.
Here is the exact stuff I use. Sometimes I go a full day once or twice a week with nothing but these shakes, which isn't recommended, but isn't really all that bad for ya either.
That is the same protein shake I buy for my veggie kid - he likes it alot but he gets the vanilla. He will generally drink one of those a day
Does this stuff actually curb your appetite? With my mom being here cooking full dinners EVERY night since shes been here, I can do to drop a few 10-15 lbs myself before i'm happy again with the way I look.. I also keep away from the scales, actually i don't even have one. I go by the mirror too, or even better how my clothes fit, my jeans are my most honest friend when it comes to weight, which in saying that, I'm not liking one bit what my jeans are telling me the last week.
.. must....lose....weight....before....Vegas..... I have about 2 weeks, I think I can do it, I've done it before..
... I really was trying to avoid it until I saw there were 5 new posts. I sit here eating oatmeal. Yesterday i actually took my fat butt to the track. I hate no, HATE dieting. With a passion. I feel like I'm missing out on life.
When I'm in full on training mode
Ask what he eats when NOT in training mode... I'm cranky... I want a pork roll, egg & cheese sandwich on a bagel instead of this stupid oatmeal. So I'm takin everyone down with me.

Thanks for writing this Princess, this was a great idea.. Lets see I think I have been on a diet my whole life but really I have no great things to share so I'm hoping we can get this started and all learn from it. I'm starting yet another "diet" and I was thinking about trying the eating every three hours bit. I wonder has anyone ever tried that it because I'm doing some research on it and would love to know more...
That recipe sounds yummy too, I will try to find one to share.
