Hi there
I'm using a program to manage my remote connections named "Remote Desktop Manager (RDM)" and connect to a computer on my LAN using it's RDP choice. Normally it works great, but when I connect to Windscribe VPN on this computer (my local computer) and then try to connect to that same "remote" computer I get a "Bad password" error when using RDM's auto-fill for my login credentials, and then when clicking the button to re-enter the password it shows some obscure user name was pre-filled. Just a bunch of letters of various casings, and I have NO idea where it got that from.
I have also tried this using the built-in Windows Remote Desktop Connection app in my Windows 10 and the same thing happens. Does anyone know a solution for this, I'd be very thankful!
Yes, in my case the computer I want to RDP to is 192.168.0.68. I also made my router keep that computer at that IP address permanently, and I use the default RDP port. I don't get it!!
Try connecting to the remote machine using the computer's name instead of the IP.
If you don't already know the name, you can get it many ways; the fastest is to press your Windows key, or just click the Windows icon in your taskbar, and type "name" and hit Enter (on "View your PC name"). You'll see it under "Device Name".
Another way is to type "Workgroup" instead of "name", and click "Show which workgroup this computer is in". On the window that pops up you'll see it listed as "Computer Name".
That also reminds me, you'll have to have both computers in the same Workgroup (I believe, though I may be wrong, as I haven't tested it) so they can see each other in the network.
It worked!!! TYSM!!

Are you trying to connect using the LAN computer's IP address (i.e. something like 192.168.1.123)?
