According to one guy at Gizmodo, the Apple iPad is a monumental .... dud, and he lists 8+3 reasons why it "sucks". I have to admit, he makes some pretty solid points.
It just so happens that I'm in the market for an eReader at the moment, and I'm looking at all of the pros/cons of them all before choosing one, so varying perspectives like his, help. Check it out. |

I got to thinking if they come out with a smaller version of the ipad like they did with ipods can we call them minipads Oh the jokes only get better with this one.
Like a lot of Apple products, they seem cool at first but when you take a closer look they're usually lacking!
Well around March HP is coming out with one - I'll wait to see that one. I bet it has more features and at the very least a USB port.
Now here is a article to check out:
So, what about the HP slate? It's still too early to provide a definitive answer, but it's also evident early on that it's taking a fundamentally different approach that could be the real danger to Apple. The prototype we've seen so far is running a full version of Windows 7 and is theoretically much more powerful from a software standpoint. It can multitask, run Flash video, and handle desktop-level apps. Pricing is still an unknown, but HP has already sworn that it will be much less than the $1,500 it would have cost a year ago.
See what I'm saying about the HP Slate one - I would wait - its a much better deal. Its suppose to hit the market around March - April this year.
I have to say I was disappointed but not surprised by the iPad. The name is terrible. No multi tasking is terrible. An untested 1st gen processor made by Apple. Not being able to install third party apps like you can on a netbook. Having to use adapters for USB and other items. Screen aspect ratio is terrible. No built in camera. Once the jailbreak community hits this thing it will get more interesting. And as always I'd wait for round two. Also disappointing is iPhone OS 3.2. Really? No 4.0? I did appreciate that you can get it for a little cheaper in wifi only. I have data plans. Also tethering with the iPhone would have been a nice touch. I mean, give me a reason to own both.
The sad part is doesn't apple have a tendency to ignore their toys when a new one comes out? Now being that the ipad and the ipod touch /iphones are close maybe not but it will be interesting to watch for sure.
I think the iPhone is safe in all of this. I think they'll release new iPhone updates at about the same time as iPad updates. They run about the same OS so any major update will likely be across the board. So iTouch would be fine too. I'm just surprised they didn't go ahead and skip to 4.0. Maybe they held off so they could have a quick update to quiet any discontent. Well, more discontent. On the plus side I have a friend who's interviewing with Apple so I've already asked him to fix all this stuff. I'll give him a couple weeks to get it done.
