I know that when I travel, I want to have the comforts of home, even when I'm away. Ususally nice hotel rooms in some cities can cost $200 or more! So why stay in a hotel for that much when you could find a house to stay in for the same amount???
This site is called home away. Basically, people put rentals up on the site, have pictures, tell you what is around their property... They have listings all over the US and international...
I also know that a few people on here have vacation homes, so maybe you would also be interested in adding to the site. 1000 a week average sounds like a steal to me!
Hummmmm interesting site. I looked and there is no rentals on my mountain (Beech Mt, NC). Currently I use a local Realtor that deals with rentals and they for the most part keep it occupied. I know that we rent ours out for a min of 3 days and yeah you get a break if you rent it out longer (I've had a month stay here and there).
You're right you can get some good deals on renting a house but I've seen some rough rentals too. Make sure you get lots of pics of the house and I would recommend going though a Realtor or someone who handles multi rentals in the area. Here is why I say that. If you have a issue with the house you want to be able to pick up the phone and call some one local who can come over if needed. Calling Joe blow in CA about his house in PA isn't going to do you much good. Plus heaven forbit you get there and say the house was flooded or some critter arrived there first you want to be able to say "Ummm find me another house".
The rental company I use rents out a number of houses (I would guess around 75) so they are on top of things. They make sure the house is cleaned and the yard is kept up on. And yes James you can get great deals including my rental house.
Yeah, you were the person that came to mind when I saw these. I didn't know if you rented out your place or not... Do you have people from all over the country that rent?

yeah I do rent it out all over the country. I have a guest book in the house on the coffee table full of local information and things plus in the back they can write comments. Its fun to read all of them and yeah they are all over the US. I even had a wedding in my house - that was cool. It was their second time back and they got married infront of the fireplace

Cool find James, some of those places are beautiful and so much better than a hotel !
