OK we have at some time gotten a really nasty or ugly Christmas gift. So come on cough it up and tell us what it was. What did you do when you got it and how did you react when you opened it up?
Fess up who has one of those Christmas sweaters they got from mom or grandma? Do you wear it?
regift it
I think the worst I got was my ex sister in law got into doing those painted t-shirts with glitter and things all over them. I had a ton of them from her. They were bad - really bad. I'm sure some hobo is nice and sparkly now
The worst thing I can remember is once when I was like 10 or 11 years old, my grandma got me two packs of batteries. Yes batteries. I think it was 2 packs of double A's. Of course I coulnd't say anything bad to her face but in my head I was thinking "bitch"
batteries are good, but they should be accompanied "with" another gift that uses them.....
I can't really think of any offhand. Generally I've always gotten good gifts, and still do. I do remember one time my grandma bought one of those gingerbread house kits and put it all together for me as a gift. Back then I was just kinda like 'cool, thanks' (I was a little kid and wanted toys, ), and didn't really eat it much, but now as an adult looking back, I 'get it', and appreciate the time and love she put into making it for me. I'm the appreciative sort, whenever anyone gives me anything, no matter how small or cheap, or does anything for me, I've learned to appreciate it bigtime, and not even just during the holidays.
this was more of an F*** YOU! kinda gift than a bad one, im Atheist as some or most of you may know, and when i told my family this my grandparents said that its they dont like the idea, but they were ok with it (to this day i still get hassled by my pap occasionally, him saying stuff like "ya know if you eat meat on fridays your gona go to ......oh right that doesnt apply to you, your going to hell anyway" harmless jokes) my aunt was like kewl, but you should believe in god (shes rlly religious) my cousin was like w.e, now my mother, was the problem, she always kept telling me, "your catholic, not this atheist " and tried to then shove the religion down my throat, its still a battle with her 2 this day,
now thats them, now xmas rolls round and i had told everyone bout 3 months prior to xmas, (this was like last year btw)
so were all opening gifts, (we wait till christmas night and open them all at once after everyone has theirs)
i opened mine from everyone and the last one was from my mother, it was a crucifix..........you see where this gets bad? my mother knowngly gave me a crucifix knowing that i claim atheism, of course this was a huge insult, now i wont go as far as to burn, break, or deface such an item, because thats just cold, its an xmas gift, and the crucifix, while i have my own beliefs, defacing an item like that is not one of them, i gave it to my aunt and walked out of the room,
When I was around 9 or 10 years old my grandmother gave us sweaters that she knitted that had snowmen on them. Since grams was living with us we had to wear them, that wasn't even cool in the 70's.
oh I love this .. today at work was ugly Christmas sweater day.. man, there are some hideous sweaters from the 80's out there
did you take pics ?
