Where Should I Go???
That's a pleasant bike path, not a road. And that's only one small section ogf the beach. It's landscape and scenery changes as you go along the length of it.
seeing tall skyscrapers on a beach is not my idea of relaxation, I'd prefer something a little greener or even bluer. That water looks grey, if I didn't know any better this pic could well be a bad version of a beach in Manhattan, lets face it Chi town does NOT have any beaches!!

I'll be thinking about ya when I'm burying my piggies in the sand, baking in the sun with a reflective sun shield under my face looking up at Uncle Sam's Apaches, while you're licking your wounds from accidentally kicking a jellyfish that washed up on shore, and you're afraid to lay right on the sand because of all the sand fleas and crabs on ya. I hope ya get super creeped out when seaweed touches your foot, and ya develop MORE freckles!

Don't make me start searching Google images for NEW YORK beaches, lil Miss Daylight Constellation ....
Do you guys even have WATER there? (that's NOT pumped in?)

You'll notice those "beach" pictures are abandoned of people; void of life. 
And I use the term "beach" lightly, seeing as I STILL don't see any water!
Here's what I found while Googling New York beaches (go ahead, check the file name!):

And mmmmm, the wildlife scenery is spectacular!
I do have to eat my words though .. it looks like New York DOES have whales in it's waters! (ohh man, I'm going to Hell for that one, )
Ok only because I woke from my nap in a good/funny mood can I rag on my area. Here this was in the news
Then they talk about some lady rescued off the beach from rip currents and OMG I hope they put the video up on the site to go with it because it is quite funny. This one poor older lady got caught out in one - ok were talking no teeth hillbilly rebel flag bikini with saggy bewbies I would say in her 60's
When they post the video I'll toss it up here...its sexy 
oK open season on smartmom's beaches huh? For the record I actually did swim with a shark once, I figured I was a goner but nope it just followed me around in the water.
