Re: What Do You Think of the Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) ...
I agree, and doesn't this vote support that ? Sexuality has got nothing to do with fighting for your country, so DADT should stand, it's no one's business anyway, I doubt somehow they would ask if you're straight, so why should they get to ask if you're gay ?
Re: What Do You Think of the Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) ...
OK maybe I'm confused by the poll - my vote was "I'm upset about it" as in I wanted repeal to pass and that the ban be lifted. I read this poll as that way that I'm upset about yesterdays vote. I don't think there needs to be a "don't ask don't tell" law on the books. Your sexual choice is your sexual choice and should not effect how you serve in the Millitary. Granted a few months back I might have had a different view I just think its time that we move on and stop all the hating.
Re: What Do You Think of the Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) ...
I think the DADT policy actually protects gays, if it were a policy where you had to state your sexuality it would be very tough on them and for sure they would be discriminated against. They don't ask that question on an interview because it's nobody's business and has no bearing on your ability to do your job well. I say keep it in place.
Re: What Do You Think of the Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT) ...
DADT is actually bad for gays and they do not support it, if you come out and tell someone or it "Leaks" they can dismiss you from the millitary because you told. I think that is where some have the issue. If a bunch of guys are sitting around and 4 straight ones are talking about their spouse or what they did over the weekend the one gay one can't say he went to the beach/picnic/party with their partner. Just mentioning he or she has a partner is reason enough to be banned. It shouldn't matter as long as they do thier job. I think the bill needs to be repealed so that there is no its ok for us to talk but you can't policy.

There has always been gays in the millitary and there always will be. I say let them serve if they want to after all they should have the right too.

What's next for 'don't ask, don't tell'?
