You have to love modern technology when banks are even offering apps. Sounds good huh, well some of them are however there have been quite a few that are phishing scams. Not only has this hit the iphones but its gotten really bad on the google android phones. In googles rush to push more apps though it seams some have slipped though the cracks.
The first scamming banking site was First Tech Credit Union banking app which wormed its way onto the market. the sad part is this is a real bank however a app creator by the the name of "droid9" created this phishing app. In the end there were folks who were scammed out of money and their personal information stolen. So how do you protect yourself? Well some sites are saying you just don't use bank apps. Right now the apps are to easily hacked into and phished.
Better safe then sorry if you wish to do online banking, and lets face it most of us do, then use your browser to search the bank vs the fast, not so safe apps. The apps are open sources and well your banking should not be "open" to everyone.
screw that, cash only mofo,
I use online banking all the time but not via a app. I've actually only used my blackberry once to go onto my bank account. I only did that when I did a last min large purchase and had to transfer funds from my money market to my checking account. After I got back I changed my password, I just don't think surfing on phones are all that safe, atleast banking wise.
Back to hiding money under the bed.
