OK, So the "big" news is that Walmart is offering customers that buy a computer/tv/etc in their store a service plan under N.E.W. Customer Service Companies Inc. (a third-party --private and separate--company). When you purchase it you will receive a pre-paid card, to pay for the service. The plans range from $99 to $399. The services are basic-- set-up and installation for now.
This has the potential to make Walmart to actually have an edge over Best Buy, because of their already-low prices besides this new service. However, it's not clear if Walmart's 3rd party will perform any diagnostic & repair services...right now it does not mention that--they are only saying Setup & Installation. But i suppose if something does not work properly you could always just battle it out with the manufacturer to receive a replacement, or return the item to Walmart. (keep that receipt!)
Would this make you more likely to buy an electronic device at Walmart?
What have been your experiences with buying electronic devices from Walmart or Best Buy?

Well I have purchased both PC's an laptops from both Best Buy
and Walmart. Would I ever use one of these services HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO! First of all most of them look fresh out of high school and if you really get talking to them you can tell they are. Lets see last PC I bought from Best Buy
I was told for ONLY $79.99 (or 79.95) I could have Geek Squad do a diagnostic check of the computer, up date it and then install the needed installation of my printer so that when I get home and plug it in it will work. I heard that last year shopping with a friend. I was like realllllllllllllllllllly you can update it something that one click of a button I can get all the updates (a Microsoft feature) and you would put the CD that comes with the printer in it too and click the button that says "next" to install it just for me and only for $79.99???? Geeze let me sign up...NOT.
All you have to do is google Geek Squad complaints and you will get pages and pages of them. I dunno if I have a issue that is more then I can handle I'll have a professional come in and not some pimple faced, pizza loving teenager with coke bottle glasses who really has no idea what to do.
If you go to youtube and search you will find one news investigation after another all with the same thing - scam. Now is there some honest Geek Squad employees - yeah I'm sure but good luck finding them.
