Well this is pretty exciting news!!! Yes there are other free video editing software out there but most of it falls short. If your familiar with VLC they you already know they offer a great media player. I personally use it and love it. VLC not only works on windows but also Linux and Mac OS X. If it still doesn't ring a bell maybe the icon will......
So they have annonuced and that a free video editing software is in the works.
VLMC (VideoLAN Movie Creator) is a free video editing software,
offering features to realize semi-professional quality movies,
but with the aim to stays simple and user-friendly.
VLMC will be available very soon in a pre-release version for Linux, Windows and Mac, stay tuned !

I read about this and will most definitely be trying this out once in beta. I do some editing but not enough or frequently enough to bother learning a more advanced program. Not mention free is good.
