For people running windows you need to try this out http://wubi-installer.org/

The number one reason I'm doing this post is I see people asking how do I play .___ (type of media) Well the answer is alway Ubuntu is will always search for plugins and download them free ! Want to play AVI, DIVX,MP4, MP3, Mpeg or any file type it just always works and its always free !

I can always play any video never ever had a video not play !

Ubuntu 9.10 has tons of cool options and some say its better than Windows 7 !

Want to burn and/or rip a CD,DVD or Blueray Ubuntu does it with ease !

If Ubuntu supported itunes I would only use ubuntu ! (iPhones and iPod touch can't add apps on Ubuntu)

Ubuntu can use Snap feature and other things just like in Windows 7 !

Its way faster on internet and Firefox runs great in it !

Wubi is a Ubuntu installer for windows and you can install it and unistall it from windows installer !

Wubi will make you computer dual boot ( I personally have used this in Vista Home premium, Vista Ultamate and windows XP pro ) and all versions were flawless.

Just try Ubuntu 9.10 and see if your not amazed after a few weeks if not uninstall it

The next version of Ubuntu will support iPhones and iPod Touch right out of the box. You can always add apps from the device directly. The main thing you would lose is updates and the ever important backups. I just installed Xbuntu (that looks wrong) on my netbook. I'm getting ready to reboot and finish the install from last night. Wubi is a dead simple tool to give Ubuntu and other distros their day in court.

Here's another cool option if ya don't want to screw with dual booting, and the potential mess it can make. If you run VMWare, here is a HUGE list of pre-made OS images you can download and use. You just download them, and open them up in VMWare, and boom, you're running the OS in a window. Great way to test out and play around with different operating systems with no fear of screwing up your current OS.

Clicky

Re: ubuntu 9.10

yeah but with Wubi which I have uninstalled and reinstalled its not like the usually dual boot you can uninstall and dual boot it gone unlike other old options people use when you try to uninstall one you have error messages untill you figure out each error message Wubi has none of those problems since I used it Also I unplugged a PC that I was installing it on just to test then I checked all the install file were put in a folder labeled Ubuntu but I run the installer once to get rid of old folder twice to reinstall it Just saying this thing rocks also Vmware doesn't always support outside devices and USB ports all that well , yeah after some tweaks and lots of fooling around you can usually get MOST everything to work .

But what if you have a good wifi card and you cant find the driver and can't get it to work?
OK plug in a ethernet cord in ubuntu and connect to internet enable wireless and it finds the driver automatically !
Open source is only going to get better and better !

Re: ubuntu 9.10

Yea, for sure if you want to be sure you're using all of your own hardware you'll want to do a real OS install instead of VMWare, and it'll also be a little bit faster if you do. VMWare also uses it's own kinda crappy video and sound card drivers, which are very basic. Newer versions of VMWare, the USB has worked flawlessly for me, I use VMWare almost daily for software development, and running suspicious things that I don't want to potentially infect my system.

I haven't tried Wubi so I may be wrong, but if it's setting up a real dual boot, it seems the only way it can do that is to mess with your MBR, which often does go smoothly, but when it goes bad, it goes real bad, Laughing. This is one nice option for people to just play with tons of other operating systems, and even use them regularly for some things.

Re: ubuntu 9.10

Yeah thats why I like Wubi is because it has its own Unistaller for the boot records and puts the Mbr back to the settings it needs for windows to boot up alone again ! (now I haven't personally tested it in windows7 but I heard it works in Win 7 too)

I have only messed around with Wubi for about a year now and love it !

When my Sony Viao had a Virus and infected everthing , Ubuntu still worked flawlessely I only needed windows for my iPhone!

Note: did some searching after P told me about iPhone support in new version and it's true NOT only is it true you can do things to your Unjailbroken iPhone that you could only do if it was jailbroken (this may be a good option for the people with thethered jailbreaks Smile I dont know exactly what its going to pertain to but I'm guessing you will have a full complete file browser for iphone ! Wink Which means more people may develope more jailbreaks using it !

For those that have a extra hardrive laying around and want to test out Ubuntu 10.4 Clicky for Beta version

also can read about it there !

It will be released:
