Terminal Man

Alright, so I saw this on Wired yesterday, and I was amused. This guy was paid by Wired to take the JetBlue deal where you could fly an unlimited amount of times in a set amount of time. He got the free flights, and Wired set the rules: You must fly as many times as you can, and you have to blog about your experiences. Oh, and he can't leave the airport grounds! Yep, he was sleeping on couches, taking baths in the bathrooms, and meeting all the interesting people that fly. His time is almost up, but all the blogs are on Wired, and worth taking a look at.

Part of his first blog:

Remember the guy we told you about who desperately wanted someone to buy him a JetBlue unlimited travel pass? The guy who actually thinks flying every single day for a month will be fun? Well, he got his ticket.

We’re the suckers who bought it for him.

Meet Brendan Ross, Wired.com’s Terminal Man. The 28-year-old Texan is waiting for the feds to grant a security clearance so he can begin working as an air traffic controller. Until the FAA makes sure he’s never applied for a position with the North Korean government, Brendan has no money, no responsibilities and a severe case of wanderlust. He figured jetting around for a month would pass the time, but he couldn’t swing the ticket. We got wind of him after reading his funny Craigslist ad and offered him a job blogging about his adventures exploring JetBlue’s route map.

Sounds like a cushy gig, no? Well, wait until you hear the rules. We aren’t gonna make this easy on him. And we’re going to let you, our dear readers, help us decide where he should go and what he should do.

Re: Terminal Man

That was an interesting read. I can't imagine doing that for a month, I think after 2 days i'd have had enough.

Wow that IS interesting! I'm enjoying reading it!! Sounds quite hellish!
I remember from my few flights a little while ago how unpleasant the noises, the smells, and close quarters can be.
I hope he's doing some walking and stretching--not sure all that flying is good (the risk for blood clots). but maybe he's too young for that?
He seems like a pretty upbeat kid despite everything he's endured...good for him. and what a very ingenious way to make a living while being unemployed, in this economy.

Re: Terminal Man

Laughing Love it and hey Jet Blue flys into my airport (West Palm Beach, FL.) I would so meet this guy if I knew when he flew in. Very interesting and I bet he has some story's to tell. Yeah I can't imagine that sleeping in a terminal is good much less living on a month of terminal food - talk about needing to diet after that one.

I say good for him! I hope he enjoys the travel and the country too bad he can't really visit it only look out the window to see it. Wonder if he is collecting those keychains at each airport?
