depends on what Met means. on a dating site? if a dating site, texting definitely doesn't cut the mustard. i learned a while back that even though the date will most likely be a waste of my time anyway (didn't want to disappoint you missb and not add a dose of pessimism!
now if you know the person, then i'd say doesn't matter, communication is communication.

"Met" as in, in person at a bar or where ever.... if it's an online meeting, yes I 100% agree that a phone call is a must before the first date.... and yeah i agree after that, communication is communication....

I dunno I like phones you can get more of a feeling for the person when you hear their voice. Although I do like IMing because I think you can learn alot more from the person. People are more willing to talk freely if not face to face or if they don't hear your voice. I guess communication is communication but I need to hear the person too - that is a must.
