When it comes to Anti-Virus programs out there the one I have used for years is NOD32 (by ESET
). Well they have now come out with a app for iPhones that is FREE. I know wait its a Apple and there are no viruses for Apple products, yeah well I once believed in Santa Clause too. See here is how viruses tend to spread the writers of them go after the popular products and iPhones are one of the top cell phones out there. They don't target Apple computers (yet) because only 6% of computers are Apples so they don't waste their time (again yet) however with iPhones its a different story.
Anyways here is the email that I received tonight:
Announcing our new iPhone app!

I just looked at the app in the App store. It looks fairly useless. All it really does is tell you just how bad a particular area is as far as threats go. I wouldn't waste the space on your iPhone on this. Mobile threats will grow as smart phone use grows and with the iPhone having so may users it's only a matter of time before mobile anti-virus software is needed. The recent bug they patched with pdfs is a great example of how something they've worked on for years can all of the sudden be attacked with such an easy exploit. I just wonder if the linux based Android will ever suffer a fate like this. Linux is good but everything is vulnerable. Everything.
