This morning while watching the Today show they had a whole segment on it spanking a child is it considered acceptable or not. So I'm curious to what your thoughts are, do you spank yes or no? If so are you a parent and do you spank when they get in trouble or maybe one of those protective (for lack of a better word) type of spank, like if the child ran out in the road you quick grab their arm pull them back and smack them on the butt saying you could have been hit by a car. As a child were you spanked?
Then while reading the news this morning I ran into this article that talked about how a police office uses a taser on a child. Wow I admit that one made me think WHOA! I don't know what is worse that the mom ASKED the cop to taser the child or that the police officer did.
According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Thursday, the officer found the girl on the floor of the house screaming and crying. She refused to follow her mother's instructions and the mother told Bradshaw to use his Taser.
Bradshaw carried the girl to the living room and told her she was going to jail, according to the report. The girl was violently kicking, the report said, and struck Bradshaw in the groin with her legs and feet. The report said Bradshaw administered a "very, very brief" stun with the Taser, put the girl in handcuffs and carried her to his patrol car. She was taken to the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil.
I'm curious to what the girl did that made the mom call the police. Either way I think this was extream and both the mom and the police officer should deal with some legal issues to make sure that doesn't happen again.
I take it your talking about the tasering? Yeah I had to think about that one. The only possible reason I could see having to ever taser a child would be if they severly causing bodily harm. If a 10 yr old had a gun and was shooting or had it pointed at you to shoot you then fine taser jr but I really struggle to find another reason. I think the mom is just as guilty for telling the officer to do it. To me that really is asking a officer to shoot your child. Arn't parents suppost to protect their children? If someone tasered one of my kids they best hope I never find them. You also have to wonder about the medical issues of tasering a small person.
Yeah I agree, thats totally out of line. I have never spanked my kid and never will, i believe there are better ways of punishing or communicating. (however I would taser Clyde )

WHAT?!?!?! Taser my cat - you mean evil lady you! Thats it I'm calling PETA for plotting to taser my helpless loving cat! Those are fighting words!
When my kids were little there was a time or two or three that they got their little bottoms spanked. Now was it hard enough to be abusive in any way - no way shape or form. Do I regret spanking them, no at the time they needed their fannys spanked and I dont recall it ever not working. Now do I spank my kids now? No they are a little to old for that - now I just start removing all the techie toys (computers, PS3, X-box......). Trust me I think they would rather get a spanking then loose those.
I stuck a bar of soap in my one sons mouth too once for a potty mouth (after repeated warnings). I think that was the worst as far as punishment. It was a battle getting that soap in the mouth - I'm pretty sure the neighbors though I was beating him. Needless to say I haven't heard the F bomb since then (atleast not to my face).
Cops are just like everyone else, stupid and crazy.
How many times do we have to see a situation where they tazer kids, old women, disabled people ect;
There is no reason at all to taze a ten year old, unless they had a gun I suppose. I really think it's out of control and maybe they shouldn't even have them.

Some cops. And i do think they should have them. There are some bad guys out there. Have you ever watched an episode of Cops point made.
However, a ten year-old girl that's not listening to her mom, i'd have to say the cop should be kicked off the force.
Admittedly i do not know all the facts, but they would have to be pretty hard core--almost impossible circumstances--to constitute a need for this kind of force on a TEN yr old!!
Perhaps there needs to be better training and screening at this particular location for cops.
I'm pretty sure the neighbors though I was beating him
i worry about that all the time!! i live in a condo--an apartment kind of feel though...a building. Thin walls...
When i tell my son we're going to wash his hair during bath time makes him SCREAM! (and we use no-tears stuff, he just doesn't like having water on his head... ). And if i don't give into cookies before dinner...TANTRUM!
I always tell him to please stop it or else we can't live there anymore! i'm so sure that one of these days during bath time or something we're going to get a knock on our door and i'll see a badge through the peep hole
Ok so the 10 yr old little girl that was taser - she was tasered because she wouldn't take a shower. No I'm not joking
Cop Dustin Bradshaw Tasers 10-Year-Old Girl After She Kicks Him in the Balls
Police in Ozark, Arkansas say officer Dustin Bradshaw was called to a home by a mother who couldn't get her 10-year-old daughter to shower before going to bed. He found the girl on the floor screaming and crying. Why police were called to diffuse a little girl's fit, we don't know. But something tells us we're not dealing with All-American Mom here.
What we do know is that the girl refused to follow her mom's orders, which little girls tend to do when throwing fits. So mom told Bradshaw to taser her arse...
The cop carried the girl into the living room, where she was "kicking violently," according to the police report. How "violently" can a 10-year-old girl can kick? Not very, we can tell you from vast experience. But we suspect officer Bradshaw also thinks chess is a dangerous activity to be played in only bicycle helmets and medieval armor.
How nice is that one? idiots!
