I was dropping my kids off at school this morning to be welcomed by @ 400+ Teachers, Aides and famiy holding picket signs. They were calling out "Pinks for Politicians not teachers" Their signs read the following:
Pink Slips for politicians not Teachers or Aides
Shame on California
My htoughts go out to all the teachers today who will be receiving pink slips. To their families. Your in my thoughts and my prayers.. and yes SHAME on California

The part that I just cannot comprehend is why target our children? Teachers most definitely are not paid great amounts of many so lose 1 politician at 250K a year or 6 full time teachers.. I'll vote to boot the politician ..arrrgh

I agree and I'm sure that as soon as the politicians see they are saving money they will pat themselves on the back and hand out raises.

I got a notice from my teachers union to wear pink today, but was not told of any picketing at schools in my area. We live near the capitol and they were having a rally there. I forgot to wear pink though. My district is not laying off anyone, but the district that we provide my services for (we rent a classroom and they pay us to take their students they can't support) is laying off 50 teachers. Not the worst in the state, but this town is small and the entire district is three schools. Scary. Today was the last day to receive a pink slip for teachers, but they don't find out if they are out of a job until late april.
