I thought I would pass this on because it seams that so many grandparents are being scammed. So here is one that might warrant you to pick up the phone and give the parents or grandparents a phone call.

Have you ever seen some of the social apps where you list your family tree? There seams to be quite a few of them now days and well the scammers are taking note of them. See its one of those things that you just list to much info and well in the wrong hands can prove to be expensive.

Here is what seams to be happening. Scammers are checking out your info on your family tree. They see that little Johnny has a grandma Joy. Well they find grandma Joys phone number and they give her a call. Here is one of many examples
Johnny: "Hi grandma this is Johnny, grandma I'm in trouble"
Grandma: "Johnny whats wrong?"
Johnny: "Grandma I'm in Canada and I was in a auto accident, if I don't pay for it now they are going to throw me in jail"
Grandma: "Oh my did you call your parents?"
Johnny: "Grandma I need money, I can't tell mom and dad they don't know I'm here. Grandma I'm scared I don't want to go to jail"
Grandma: "Well I don't want you to either but what can I do?"
Johnny: "Grandma can you wire me money to XXXXXX or send me a western union, I need $3,000."
Grandma: "I'll go to the bank now Johnny and I'll send it"

The only problem the caller wasn't Johnny but they fooled grandma and now she is out of the money. So let this be a warning to the grandparents out there because they are being scammed. The sad part is that most can not afford the money they just sent/lost. How low do you have to be to scam on grandparents? Just warn grandma that if they get a call about this to ask lots and lots of questions that only she would know. Alsp tell her to get a call back number and have her call it back. Gotta protect the grandparents!

I know you have to be pretty low to do that. They showed one older lady on tv just crying because she cashed in her bank CD to help out her grandson. She was scammed out of all of her money. Sad
