i just realized that we have a new Mommy to be amongst us. I am not sure if this is her first but, since a few of us here have been through the pregnancy, infant, toddler, preschool, school age, preteen and teen years.. Why not share a few tricks that have worked for you? Or ask for help from the "pros" () I love to hear ideas from others on how to make something I am struggling with work better
ooo I like the olive oil idea! My li'l guy is always wearing a band aid. His nickname is patches because of his "constant" bandages.. One of his big fears is when its time to take them off.. thanks for posting this
that IS a good idea! who else is prego? im having a boy so the potty training tips are great. thx! even at my daughters school they say to put food coloring in the toliet bowl. it seems to fascinate them. the only advice i can think to give is to make bottles ahead of time and keep in the fridge as much and as safely as possible. especially for night time feedings. even breastfeeding it wasnt easy to do in the middle of the night at first. and then later on with formula. and i carried the container with 3 sections for formula feedings and a botttle of water in a coozie thing for on the go. its been 2 years since the last one so even now i know there are tons of things out there since the last one. not to mention a little more experience on my part.
thanks to everyone who responds here and the support i know i can count on at 2am after babys arrival. (|:

5months and some change. i think our daughter is getting excited. we take her to the ultrasound appointments and make her a really big part of the shopping and preparing for her brother. i dont think she quite realizes the overall affect its going to have on her but she becoming more open to the idea. and this is it for us too. he was a little bit of a surprise but a completion of our family non the less. we will have a prince and princess in our kingdom now. and i love being pregnant! i was so anti children for so long. (i always thought i was too selfish) and now i cant believe how much i could have missed out on. its such a miracle.
Have you thought of getting her her "own" baby yet? That was the best advice given to me for big sisters because they want to be little mommies sometimes too much "help" can be umm hard. We started her with her own baby when my belly got big enough to show her a new brother was coming. Then, when we went baby shopping we went toy shopping for her baby. It didn't have to be expensive either she was tickled with one of those baby toy bottles with the pretend milk inside for $1 or so. After my son was born each time I fed him or changed him I would tell her "feeding time" or "changing time" She would get her baby and mimick me. I had the time I needed to take care of the new baby and some mommy daughter time to share with her
o yes! she is quite the little mommy with her baby. i just think she may be to smart for her own good. getting doll more involved like with shopping is a great idea too! i will try to see if i can incorporate it more. thanks!
i'm prego too! i'm due june 5th! woohoo! only 13 weeks left! haha
i saw this the other day and meant to comment on it, since i figured you saw my status of watchin my belly move all around cause of baby! hehe! he is SOOOO active! yikes!
can't wait to see what this little one looks like, very excited!
congrats miss! yea both of mine have enjoyed their belly space time to the fullest! if this is your first i have a bit of advice (as if you probably dont get enough already) just expect the unexpected. especially labor and delivery. while that whole birth plan is great to have it can go out the window REAL quick!
congrats to you as well! yeah this is my 2nd one, my other boy is 2 1/2 and excited for his baby brother to come!
tell me about expecting the unexpected...i was in labor for 19 freakin hours before my first stinker decided he was ready to come out! ! i was bound and determined to go all natural/no drugs, after 13 hours, my body pretty much started to go into shock, my husband was freakin thinking i was going to die, and EVERYONE suggested a get an epidural...THANK GOD FOR THOSE!! hahaha! everything was wonderful after that! woohoo, last 6 hours of labor were a breeeeeze!
in short he taught me patience...haha
i'm really crossing my fingers on this one that it goes quicker, but not expecting it to.

Well let me give you a few of mine......
Take lots of pictures and get a few really good embarassing ones, the type they will hate you for as a teenager. Why well as a mom of teens those pictures are worth their weight in gold - total blackmail. I know I can hear it now "OMG that is so mean" well as a mom of 3 teen boys you do what it takes.
Potty training boys tips:
Got a bad booboo that the blood sticks to it and you dont want to rip it off? soak the bandaid with olive oil and it will peal with out ripping the scab. Trust me this works - my middle son had a 6" road rash one (bike accident) and it worked wonders - as in no tears. Olive oil does not burn or hurt the booboo but you have to use alot so do it in the tub or outside.
