Well according to reports the sale of netbooks is decreasing and that some of the smaller notebooks are showing up again. It nice to have something small that you can toss into a bag easily and use. Laptops are nice but sometimes can be a little on the large size to carry around yet a netbook, media table and a cell phone might not offer enough for you.
So what is the difference between netbooks and notebooks?
Well netbooks are generally between 7" to 12" in size, generally they don't have a DVD/CD drive. Its basically a stripped down little computer that is great for surfing the web on the go. The price is also on the lower end of between $250. to $700. It use to be that most used Linux based OS but now you can find alot of them using windows xp. Here is a example of a netbook
Notebooks well they have gotten smaller in size. Notebooks generally offer more then the netbooks and will give you that DVD/CD drive. Generally the notebooks are 13" and up. If your looking for small well they have come down is size to meet the demands of ppl on the go who would rather stay small but would like a little more then what the netbooks offer. Here is a example of a small notebook:
Well I love my HP laptop to death but its in no way small. Its a 17" widescreen laptop. I also love my blackberry but surfing the web can be slower then I like and the screen is only so big. Then I have my new little baby the Archos - love it. Its not much bigger then my blackberry see:
and its about 1.5 times thicker but about 3 times heavier. Its heavy because it doesn't have Flash Drive type of a HD but it has a real HD in it. You can feel it spinning as you hold it. I'm getting use to Linux (hey where is my penguin come to think of it) and for a browser I use opera with it. I originally got it for my dad but he has informed me its a little to much for him so its mine. I told him when he gets back I'll take him shopping to find something more fitting for him. I though it would be good since he has a vision problem. I got the Archos 5 120GB Media table. Oh did I mention its also touch screen so I'm loving that. I got a little portable HD caring case for it and that has worked well (because it also holds the plugs and the headphones all in one.
In the past I had though of getting a netbook for the kids. When we travel it can get ugly with them begging to use my laptop. I have alot of programs on my laptop I don't want them to screw with. My only draw back for the netbooks is no DVD/CD player on it. Yeah I can do things by flash but it would be nice. Really as long as they can get on the web it would be ok but I dunno. I've also though about getting a cheapie laptop but ehhhh. I know I could give them the Arhos but is so cool and well their boys that I would be mad if it broke.
Oh I know!!!!! You can do shouts and you can send PM's just no comments - its crazy. I can type the whole thing out but there is no "post comment" button...gurrrrr
I tried every which way once when I was in the car for 14 hours driving to NC with the kids. I couldn't for the life of me so I sent the day shouting. I was a shouting queen that day. You can do some mod stuff though -
there is a way- get an iPhone
im playing on the archo and i really like it
So I was catching up on my reading and I ran into this article and I could not agree more!
I didn't expect much from the Archos 5 Internet tablet -- and I was surprised. This Android Linux powered device is more than just another would-be iPod Touch competitor; it's a powerful touch computer in its own right
I have a Archos5 and I love it - its a awesome little portable computer (and its touch screen). The picture is great on it and its easy to use. Here is a pic of mine while on geekdrop:
Now is it something I would carry in my pocket as a MP3 player? No its a wee big to big for my pockets and its not real light as it has a hard drive inside not the Flash Drives that you would find in most MP3's.
In a land of wonderous things...
i only have my laptop and iPhone, both of which i ADORE, but i'd love to get a little Linux based something or other to carry around with me when i'm heading out of town or something. nothing too fancy- and by fancy i mean pricey cause i'm poor.
*lol*
