So I'm sitting here watching TV and there really isn't much on and I find some cooking show. They have these 4 chefs on it and they are going against each other to see who can cook the best dinner for 4 under $25.00. They are making it out to be this whole big deal about how hard it is. All I can thinks is really, I do it almost every night. I'm not really trying to keep it under $25. but I just do.
Now granted if I'm cooking steaks on the grill yeah I go over the $25.00 budget. However say I was cooking Italian (love Italian food) I can easily keep it under $25.00. Maybe that is why when I go out to dinner I generally don't go out for Italian yet I love Italian so go figure.

So here is my question - when you cook what would you say you spend on average? Does your cooking at home influence where you go out to eat?
See I'm a family of 5 and I would say its around $25.00 a meal and a good one at that.

Good thing I don't live w/ya. A $25 meal would just about cover me, and that's just for breakfast.
I eat like a starving horse.
Well I'm not talking steaks on the BBQ but I would say that is a adverage meal. That is also cooking at home and not going out. Heck we can't eat at McD's for $25.00 as a group
What the heck are you eating for $25. for breakfast unless its steak and eggs every morning and a good cut of steak?

Whatever's in my way ... including unfortunate other people's hands and feet if they get within arms reach.

Oh I get it the girl cost you more then $25.00
hehehehehe couldn't help it...just kidding ya

Well I can cook for me and son for about $6 a nite
give or take a buck or two depending on what we have. But now you have given me an
I have been thinking on where to bring DoGG tonight in the city and I just remembered a great little Italian Trattoria that I went to last year and it has the BEST pasta & pizza...yayy can't wait!! I'm hungry already...
OK so tonight I'm making Lasagna, garlic bread and a salad. Dinner for 5 (plus there will be left overs) ran me $19.23 so not to bad
How was the Italian Trattoria last night? What did you all have?

Sounds yummyy.... well good morning/afternoon everyone....i had such a busy day today in work its not even funny, and was hungover to boot
well we had a great time, it was great meeting DoGGy in person, after all this time it was kinda surreal... well hes a pretty awesome guy
and looks a lot better in person than any of his pics (is that even possible ?
) anyway we had a pasta feast washed down with a wine fest
of course i was nagged about getting Junior's cheese cake afterwards so we went to GCT (Grand Central Station) and got yummy cheesecake, then onto another bar for more alcohol
... i had to rush to get my last train home but made it thank god...overall it was a memorable night!!! (my hangover is only now starting to subside)
.
This reminds me--for people with small families, i just have to share something that's been making my life so much easier during the work week:
i've been really into the
hormel entrees (refrigerated, no presevatives) lately. with needing to work up until close to dinner-time, less prep is key. All i have to do is pop one of those into the micro, followed by some potatoes. The only stove-work is sauteeing some veggies! And here's a $2 coupon! I send my mom a picture of my meals (beef tips & gravy for example, with mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans) and she is stunned!
, she doesn't know my secret! granted i could do it with my slow cooker too.
i love their microwave ready bacon. 4 strips in each package (and 4 packages per box), you just pop into the micro, --NO MESS! cooked to perfection. $1 coupon With only the 2 of us, we don't need to open a whole pound of bacon--this is less wasteful for us, and less of a headache too!

Seems like food is cheap here in SA compare to there. It is easy to have even a decent grill for $25.
I estimate that a average meal cost us no more than $15 here. ( We are making food for 3 and not 4 )
