So do you know what your drinking? Sometimes you don't really stop to think about that drink your drinking as maybe the reason your packing on a few extra pounds but it may be. Men's Health Magazine did a story on it and here is what they found:
Snapple Tropical Mango Antioxidant Water (20-ounce bottle)
* 150 calories
* 0 g fat
* 30 g sugars
Marketers try to hide the high amounts of sugar in these drinks by using healthy terms, such as antioxidants. But two out of three antioxidants in this beverage are vitamins A and E, both of which are fat soluble, making them hard to absorb in a fat-free beverage. Pick flavored water without calories and get your vitamins through fruit or a multivitamin.
Rockstar Original (16-ounce can)
* 280 calories
* 0 g fat
* 62 g sugars
Compared with its closest competitor, Rockstar has 20 extra calories, which makes it the worst choice for instant energy. Get the boost from coffee, a proven source of antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients.
Starbucks Coffee Frappuccino (13.7-ounce bottle)
* 290 calories
* 4.5 g fat (2.5 g saturated)
* 46 g sugars
Have one every morning and you're guaranteed to pack on the pounds within a year.
Starbucks Venti 2% Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate (20 ounces)
* 760 calories
* 37 g fat (22 g saturated)
* 85 g sugars
* 380 mg sodium
This contains more than a full day's worth of saturated fat and as much sugar as nearly 4 Hershey's chocolate bars.
Red Lobster Traditional Lobsterita
* 890 calories
* 0 g fat
* 183 g carbohydrates
You'd have to drink four regular on-the-rocks margaritas to outdo the massive calorie load of this single beverage.
Baskin-Robbins
Large Ice Cream Soda with Vanilla Ice Cream Float (32 ounces)
* 960 calories
* 40 g fat (25 g saturated, 1.5 g trans)
* 136 g sugars
It's best to limit yourself to one small scoop of ice cream and a reasonable pour of soda instead of gulping down this calorie and sugar packed treat. Either split a small float or cut the soda out of the equation.
Così Gigante Double OH! Arctic (23 ounces)
* 1,210 calories
* 19 g fat
* 259 g carbohydrates
The only thing stronger than the massive caffeine jolt will be the sugar crash to follow.
Cold Stone Creamery "Gotta Have It" PB&C Shake
* 2,010 calories
* 131 g fat (68 g saturated)
* 153 g sugars
One of these has more calories than a dozen ice cream sandwiches and more saturated fat than nearly 20 large orders of McDonald's French fries. No shake on Cold Stone's menu, not even the small sizes, falls below 1,000 calories.
#2 Worst smoothie
Smoothie King's The Hulk, Strawberry (40 ounces)
* 2,088 calories
* 70 g fat (32 g saturated)
* 240 g sugars
While this smoothie is designed to help people gain weight, two-thirds of Americans are already overweight
#1 The Worst Drink In America 2009
Baskin-Robbins Large Chocolate Oreo Shake
* 2,600 calories
* 135 g fat (59 g saturated fat, 2.5 g trans fat)
* 263 g sugars
* 1,700 mg sodium
This drink packs more sugar than 29 Fudgsicles, as much fat as a stick and a half of butter, more calories than 48 actual Oreos, three days' worth of saturated fat, and as much salt as you'll find in 9 bags of Lay's Classic potato chips.
OK can I tell you that I have a Cold Stones near me that the kids and I hit like once a month. Guess what I always get - yep #3 on the list here. I read this story and wanted to get I think it will be a while before I go back there and when I do I think I will be ordering something else. Now you can check out the article HERE and they do give a healthy alternative to each one of them.
I still can't get over #3 - RIP my PB&C Shake
yeah well #1 is a heart attack in a cup. I think I have had maybe 2 or 3 of #3's this year and yep that will do me in for the rest of my life. Sucks too because they were soooooooooooo good.
I've recently given up my Venti soy hot chocolate. I was for a while getting a vegan version of the above mentioned signature hot chocolate. Now on the very rare occasion that I do get one it's just a tall.
