hello! so i think i've figured out what's wrong with my laptop. the problem is that it won't charge anymore. i've gotten other power cords and none work. well, let me rephrase, for a period of time i was able to hold the cord at an angle and it would charge a little, now it just won't anymore.
so i think i've got a pretty good guess that it's something hardware-wise that's preventing the laptop from accepting the power source.
from what i've heard for a 'loose pin' as they i think call this, they can charge a lot (300 dollars from what i read online, if that's true) ...that it might be cheaper to get a docking station/port replicator?
anyone know what i should do?
Worth a try, thanks missb!!

A docking station may not work if the power port is messed up. This is a common issue with alot of laptops I hate to say. I also checked to see if it was by any chance part of one of the battery recalls dell had but it doesn't look like it but you can check it HERE. If you try a docking station buy it local where you can return it if it doesn't work.
Alright my friend said that the piece that most likely needs to be fixed (the DC power jack) costs about 5 dollars but it's all the labor that costs so much (at least 200 dollars). And that is if the mother board doesn't need to be replaced.
Blahhhhh!
Thankfully my work might do it for free.......
Thank you for all your posts! i'll let you know when it's up and running again! then i'll be able to be on here nights too!!
