If your not sure who Roman Polanski is well he is a famous Movie Director. Not a Hollywood one although he was at one time, 30+ years ago. A little over 30 years ago in 1977 he (which he admitted) raped a 13 yr old girl. He gave her drugs and alcohol then raped, sodomized and took nude photographs of her. She was 13 yrs old he was 44 yrs old. He did admit in court to it pleading guilty and was working out a plea deal when he fled the US. He has been living in France since then.

Since living in France he has directed many movies that were top movies, you can see a list of his movies here. Last year he tried to have his conviction in the crime thrown out. He did not return to the US but did this overseas. Last week he traveled to his house in Switzerland like he has many times when he was arrested and is awaiting transport back to the US.

Since his arrest there has been a almost split reaction in Hollywood. Some are saying its been to long to let it go and some are saying hey it doesn't matter how long he committed a crime which he admitted to time to pay up. The other day they discussed it on The View and here is what Whoopie Goldberg said:

Whoopie Goldberg wrote:

“I know it wasn’t rape-rape. It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape. He went to jail and and when they let him out he was like ‘You know what, this guy’s going to give me a hundred years in jail I’m not staying,’ so that’s why he left.”

So what do you think? Too Late, It wasn't Rape or he needs to pay?

Re: Is Roman Polanski Above The Law?
I guess I don't know too much about this. But from what i have heard:

number one, why the heck didn't they extradite the guy?! I'm guessing that they couldn't?? And just black-and-white analysis of the situation, IMO, he should be sentenced. And i'm sorry but again IMO, whoopi's whacked. It wasn't "rape-rape"?!? I'm sorry but from what i've heard he gave alcohol and drugs to a minor, a 13 yr old, then raped and sodomized her, against her wishes. She may have --against her better knowledge (but that's why they have laws to protect young children)-- drank the alcohol for a photo shoot, and then he raped her, no she didn't beat him--but in her own words it was because she was afraid and alone and knew no one would be able to help her. I don't blame her. And she reported it right away. A portion of testimony is here. I don't know how anyone can call having sex with a child not rape-rape especially when the child said NO. Poor girl.
I wish they could've dealt with this a long time ago. Now she is married with 3 kids and doesn't want the attention that resurfacing this case is going to bring. BUT he must be punished. It is not fair that he got to run away. It's ridiculous that people think that that was punishment enough for him. There is actually a petition signed by Hollywood people, i read it and think it's ridiculous. They really do think that he should be above the law. And btw of course Woody Allen is on the list of supporters. yuck.

The whole testimony can be found here (pages 1-18) and here (pages 18-36)
EDIT: I just read the whole thing and it is DISGUSTING. i hope they put the guy away.

Re: Is Roman Polanski Above The Law?

I am usually VERY strong when it comes to the punishment of dirt bags like this guy. The one thing that stops me is that the girl who was raped is all grown up now, and doesn't want the case to go to trial. I've always wished that our law allowed for victims to pick the punishment for those who harmed them... And I think that if the woman doesn't want to have to open that old can of worms, I don't think the trial should play itself out.

However, he IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW. If the circumstances were different, I'd say nail the guy to the courtroom door.
