Well on September 25th AT&T users who own a iPhone will have MMS available. Well congratulations AT&T your now offering your users something that most phones already have - even some of the crap phones already have MMS features. It seams like this year AT&T has had a PR nightmare. For as many who love their iPhones there is a line just as long of those who hate AT&T. It seams like there is to much stress on the network and it just can't keep up with the growing demand. The stress is causing dropped calls, spotty service and slow data connections that is according to the NY Times.
So what is the answer? Well it would be a smart move it iphone opened itself up to other networks. In Europe it is available through different carriers.
PCWorld did a story and they also stated that iphone users were just not happy. They also talk about tethering. In Europe MMS and Tethering is already available - just not in the US with AT&T. I cant personally say anything about tethering since I have never tried it but I have a friend who does (no his blackberry). As for MMS well I've owned a blackberry for a year and a half and I've had and use MMS all the time. Heck my kids have crap Motorola phones and they MMS. Welcome to the world AT&T
So this is to our iphone users out there - what do you think? Are you happy with AT&T? Now from reading a few different articles it sounds like the busier the area you live in the more the issues. If you are a iphone user and Apple opened it up to other carriers would you switch?
I agree I wish the cell phone carriers shared networks that would be awesome. I know I use Nextel and I'm not all that thrilled with it. For the most part its a great phone BUT once I hit my neighborhood it sucks. Missb can tell you how many times my phone fails. Heck I think once it took me like 4 calls to dogg to get though a conversation. However where my house is in NC Nextel is the only carrier to work on the mountian. It drives me nuts at times.

AT&T has really, really been sucking @ss here lately for me. My best friend is on AT&T as well (Motorola) and it's like pulling teeth for us to have a phone conversation. I would love to have a choice in carriers but that's not going to happen anytime soon. What really truly needs to happen is for all of the carriers to agree on one standard network. Like in Europe.
As far as MMS is concerned I could care less. I mostly email my photos, either to Facebook or to friends and family. Even when I had my old busted barely more than a phone, cell phone I never used MMS. It's fairly stupid that the most advanced phone in the world is so crippled by the worst network in the world. Somewhere in America a group of people are suing AT&T and Apple over the promise of MMS. Maybe this will end that lawsuit.
What really needs to happen is we need some sweeping changes to consumer rights in the cell phone industry. Two year contracts for phones that are not capable of lasting two years is criminal. SMS prices vs cost to the carrier is absurd. Early termination fees that aren't prorated is plain ole dumb.
