Just to make sure everyone knows what this is I thought we needed a thread on it. It could save a life. On your cell phone you have a address book. Well you should have a contact called simply "ICE". Heaven forbid you get in a accident and you are unable to talk this will help out rescuers locate your loved ones.
According to the EMS:
ICE, (In case of emergency) enables first responders, such as police, fire and paramedics to identify victims and enable contact with next of kin , guardians or other entrusted persons to obtain important medical information or make emergency notifications . (The ICE concept gained international attention in July 2005 after the London Terrorist Bombings.) The program was conceived in the mid-2000s and promoted by British paramedic Bob Brotchie in May 2005. It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their cell phone contacts list under the name "ICE". Since then it has developed significantly more roles and usefulness as a preparedness tool and a free "public service" administered by ICE4SAFETY. While the original concept of ICE encouraged people to enter emergency contacts in their cell phone address book under the name "ICE", this practice has since evolved into a new international standard advanced by ICE4SAFETY and EMS Options, along with the advent of smart-ICE applications for smart-phones.
Now if you have a iPhone there is a app for that
So either enter it or get the app and be safe out there.

It is a bit of topic but I just have to share with you my experiance with a emergency call. and how important it is to
have such a thing on your phone.
in South africa if you dail 147 it is like a 911 call in your side of the pond just for Cell phones.
I was driving home one evening around 6:30 and got stuck in traffic.(I live about 20 miles from work) So the cars were hardly moving.
All of a sudden I just want to pass out .I suffer from high blood pressure so I think it must have been that because I went to the dentist earlier the afternoon and they had to give me 4 shots to numb my mouth. Those stuff is ultra high on adrenalin
so I recon it screwed with my BP.
Anyway. So there is nowhere to pull of the road as I was in the "fast lane"
and there is road works on that section of the road. I did not want to call my wife because it would just make her worry so I pulled up my hand brake, put the car in nutral and called 147 (911).
Now I am busy drifting between consious and unconsiuos in the middle of the traffic and when the person on the other side answered I had a hard time consentrating to explain what is wrong. now here comes the issue :
I ended up with a call center 1000 miles away from where I was. All the stupid lady on the other side can say is "Please call 147 in your own area"
realy how the hell can I do that I mean 911 is 911 right?
Anway after about 2-3 minutes with her on the line I realise it is getting nowhere. I already started to feel a bit beter so
I called my wife so that at least if something happens she at least know where I am. I cept her on the phone untill I was feeling ok.
What a nighmare it was.
yikes that would be scary!!! I know cell phone here when we dial 911 I believe if you are out of the area you have to also dial the area code or you get your 911. Like I live in Florida but I also have a house in NC. My area code is 561 but since my phone is registered here as local if I need to dial 911 I just dial 911. However if I am at my house in NC and there is a emergency I would need to dial my area code 828 first so it would be 828-911 to get the local 911 otherwise I'm dialing 911 800 miles away.
OK that is scary for you to be feeling like you were going to pass out - yikes. I think I would h ave flipped out if I was your wife. Glad everything worked out. My hubby has high blood pressure an I know had a issue one time but his was to the point he had to pop some nitro tabs, that was his second heart attack. He got home and I took him to the ER, scary times for sure.

Great info, thats good to have!!
