i know this is blunt but i did same thing check box and thought that it would worked, yet still able to move until i hit apply. So maybe you need to hit apply then test to see if it worked or not.

This software works very well. when you are using keyboard.

I can't believe I finally found my answer. It is Sunday and Sony Support Center is closed. And it took me almost 2 hours searching online (with only keyboard support) to attempt to find a solution.
Sony's online help is totally user-UN-friendly and had no reference to looking in the Vaio Care Control Center for help. Their help was completely useless, as is true for most computer online support (there isn't even a "touchpad" or "hotkey" search result WTH?) I wonder why they keep it hidden away so obscurely, especially when the hotkeys are so easily "accidentally" accessed from the desktop. Having a "HOT KEY" cheat-sheet showing which hot keys enable/disable or affect which settings would've been real helpful and could have been included on the desktop. ;-D
Thanks for your help. So appreciated!!!
I had to translate German to find this, and it works! (Sony Vaio -2012- running Windows 7)
Fn + F1
Hold down Fn and toggle F1 to activate/deactivate
Hope it works for you....
OMG! Please let me bear your children! I have been trying to find the answer to this problem for over a year now. The second method worked perfectly on my Vaio running Windows 7. Even the IT guy at my job spent about 30-40 minutes fiddling around/researching it before declaring, "It cannot be done." Guess we need a new IT guy.
Thank you, thank you!
Still no luck??? I followed all your instructions. Any other ideas?? I have a SONY VPCS111FM with Windows 7.
thank you SO MUCH for this.
You made turning off the touchpad super easy. You have made my Sunday!!!!!

I am working on recovering an older Sony Vaio with Windows Vista Business. The user wants the touchpad disabled. Problem is that when I do this
The "Enable" box is already NOT checked but the touchpad is still functioning. I have tried a couple other ideas, disabling/uninstalling the driver (just reinstalls on reboot), I have also looked in the control panel under the mouse settings (no option present), and I have tried using the sony vaio control panel (no option for pointing device/touchpad, just mouse and keyboard).
I have installed all updates and drivers to my knowledge for the computer.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
