Comcast announced it is kicking off a new program of wireless to go. Its 4g data card will cost you around $49.99 and will be bundled with home internet or $69.99 nation wide. They will be kicking it off tomorrow in Portland, Oregon and then they will follow it by launching it in Atlanta, Chicago and Philly. The nation wide card will access the web though sprint/nextels 3g network where 4g is not available. They are using what they call WiMax to blanket areas for better coverage.
You can read more about it HERE.
So my question is would you be more interested in this? Would this replace your internet at home or just be a bonus? So I'm wondering what the difference is between this and say a mobile broadband card?
See here is my take on it. For now I dont think I need this only because there are new hot-spot wi-fi area's popping up everywhere. Between the starbucks, Panera Beads and now most McDonalds do I really need to fork up that much money a month?
I do have a friend who uses a broadband card and they do work great. He has to he runs sugar cane crops and is sometimes in the middle of no where having to file reports so for him yes its great. I really don't see it to far into the future that it will be a standard thing everywhere and we will be a wi-fi country *dreams*
