I joined this website a while back when I was planning a project for my old windows mobile phone and was going to use C# for the first time. I have since acquired an Android phone (much happier) which uses Java as the programming language for its apps. I am familiar with Java so I didn't need help anymore.  I would still like to be a part of this community however there seems to be a problem.  When I log in I get a message at the top of every page saying I need to verify my account. I'm sure I clicked the link in the initial email after verification but must have deleted the email.  Does anybody know how I can fix my account?

Nevermind, I figured it out.  Go figure, after I finally give up and ask for help I find it a couple minutes later.  FYI, if you go into your profile >> status >> edit, you can select to resend the verification email.  Thanks anyways to anybody who may have answered my plea.Applause

Re: Hello all

Welcome back Wheelie Smile

Glad ya found the self-help link. Regarding Android, I'm in the process of installing my first ROM (other than the stock one after rooting) as we speak. The array of ROMS to choose from is dizzying, and I'm trying to get a stable one right off the bat because at least for the moment I don't want to be installing ROM after ROM, I just want to have a stable phone to use. So in the end I chose Das BaMF 1.8 Remixed.

Learning the Java/Android coding syntax is next on my plate of things to do, so I can write some Android apps that I already have in mind, Laughing.

Shhh.. dont tell anyone, but we also have a private forum area with the really good stuff, see?

Re: Hello all

I permanently rooted my phone then found out that there are apps that run adb  on your phone and give you temp root priveledges.  No chance in turning your phone into a brick that way.  Here is one tutorial.

Also, installing Eclipse IDE and all of the SDK's  is a little confusing.  This is the most straight forward one I could find and I've built my "Hello Android" app, just have to get it on the phone now.

Re: Hello all

Thanks Smile What kind of phone do ya have? I just got a Thunderbolt back around Feb., ran it stock for about 4 months to get a baseline feel for it, then rooted. Since it's (was, Laughing) still under warranty I didn't want to mess with perma-root in case I had/have to unroot.

Installed BaMF 1.8 remix last night w/out a hitch and so far it's pretty dang sweet. Overclocked it to 1.4ghz, switch to Go Launcher EX, did a few other tweaks and it's MUCH zippy-er than it was. I might give Cyanogen 7 and/or VirusROM a shot or even the Gingerbread version of BaMF with Sense 3 before I settle into a daily driver for a while, and get all set up.

I didn't have much trouble setting up Eclipse (had it installed for a while actually for coding in other languages) or the SDK's, I just need to find the time to wrap my brain around Java syntax. I'm mostly a VB.NET/VB Classic/PHP who has dabbled in a bunch of others languages (LUA, JS, etc.), so Java can be a little weird, Laughing
