Well nothing like trying to be private only to have google toss out your information and make it public. Besides showing your once private information that is tied in with your email but since they auto choose contacts for you to follow it exposes more then you might want. Here is how to make your information a little more private on your google profile.
GO to your Buzz profile and click on your name. Once there you will see this - click on "Google Profile"
Once there click on "Edit Profile"
Then you will see your Google Profile - you need to UNcheck the boxes to the right side (3 boxes):

Ok another discovery - when you go from google buzz to a IM it is STILL PUBLIC all I can say is 
and I now want a Mikes Hard Lemonaid. Dogg you are too funny 
EDIT: Ok never mind you can't see IM's they were just pasted in on the chat and I was so excited about new possibilities haha.
that was nuttin'. You should see some (most) of the convos we have. We make a pretty good comedy team, but no one else ever see's em. hehe. I'm the funnier one tho ... 
i think i'm going to stay away from buzz.
